[Mk2] [Turbo] Water leak!

Post by kev_mr2 »

I was driving along the dual carraiage way earlier today when the water temperature guage started to rise!

So i pulled over let the car cool for a bit and checked the coolant and there was none in it!

Got the car towed home and put some water in it! as i was putting water in it i heard it leaking out somwhere onto the floor!

when i checked where it was coming from it looked like it was from the small hole on the water pump facing us about an inch above the yellow information box on the left of the pic bellow!

is something ment to go in this hole or is my water pump shagged lol!?

Awell! think ill get it replaced! how hard are they to do?

not hard on it's own but you should change he cam belt at the same time for obvious reasons...

the biggest problem is the amount of room you have to work with... :eye:

Toyota will charge you the best part of 500 buckaroo's for a cam belt/ water pump change so if you can do it yourself ...

changing water pump is not hard - you just have to remove lots of stuff to do it. as long as youre methodical it shouldnt be a problem.

bloke gave me a tip for changing cam belt - fairly obvious but i'll put it up anyway.

get some tipex and mark a tooth on the cam pulleys and crank pulley, mark the tooth on either side, on the belt. when you have removed the belt, mark the same teeth on the new belt by counting the teeth. everything will line up when you replace it.
