[Mk2] [Turbo] dual brake mod continues

Post by peterc »

update here.....okay what happened here is that i got all the gear to do this and guess what put the brakes on and 4 lights lit up!
seems the mod was already done.
But wait... when i put he lights on ie sidelights only the two outers light. Is this the way most mods are ? or should all 4 lights come on as sidelights? or is it a matter of what you prefer? how then can mine be changed so all 4 come on ..? ta peter

you probally dont have dual fillament bulbs in the inners.. for the inners to light aswel as sidelights, get some dual filament bulb holders and bulbs, then run parallel off the outer bulbs to the filament that has the lower wattage', then cut the wires to the origional inner bulb holders and wire them into the remaining wire of the dual filament holders..

that will give you 'All 4 dim' for sides, and 'All 4 bright' for brakes

Technically that's still an MOT failure because the right hand foglight is too close to the sidelight (the left hand side has no requirement) - that's why UK spec rev3 lights have a 'dead' zone in the right lense to get around this problem -

Although I'd be amazed if you ever actually got pulled up on it ;)

yup it would be a real zealot that pulled me for that. Mind you, since I only use the rear fogs for the MOT not likely to be a problem on the road.

That's standard lighting (2xside[outer], 4xbrake, 0xfog). I've seen several guides are based on the UK model, which is a different setup (2xside[outer], 2xbrake[outer], 2xfog[inner]).
