Loss of posts made today between 4am and 2.45pm

Post by BenF »

Folks,

The main IMOC database was unexpectedly damaged this afternoon as a result of some work I was doing supporting a site upgrade to phpBB3 in future.

Unfortunately the damage wasn't repairable and I've had to restore the site using the backup taken at 4am this morning.

This means that all posts and PMs sent today, Friday 14th between 4am and 2.45pm will unfortunately have been lost and there is no way to recover them.

You will need to resend PMs or Re-post messages made during this time.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Ben.

Sorry Marc - if it was possible to repair / restore I would have done so, but it was trashed and rolling back to the 4am backup was the only option.

I was going to mention a Glitch in the Matrix causing a Deja-vu moment - but winding back to 4am was a little too far ;-)

Annoyingly the task I was doing is something that has been done before many times without problems 'behind the scenes' - a new feature in an updated tool looks to have bypassed the precautions I'd taken to stop this kind of thing happening.

You mean it deleted the backup that you made right before you started working on the changes? :eye:

:silent: It wasn't supposed to be a change to the live site, the operation was on a development site ... unfortunately what looks to be a 'upgrade' in a backup tool has changed its behaviour

You'd only have seen that around 2.45 pm when it happened - not at any other time.
