PS3 Settings To Upscale SD DVD's

What settings have you guys gone for on yours?

I have a Panasonic Viera TX32somethingorother HD TV.

I dont think it plays 1080p

ive jus got upscaling turned on or whatever it is.


jus tried 300 and wasnt impressed at all. looked pretty much the same as a normal player.

300 has been made to look grainy and has had the colours digitally altered on purpose. It was meant to look like this by the director. Unfortunately this means it really doesn't show off the clarity than Blu-Ray can achieve. This is how the movie is intended to look though.

and it's worse on a sd dvd i'm afraid mate

I downloaded 300 in full HD onto the 360 and it looked magnificent

300 isnt the best HD film out but it is good. The best upscaled SD DVD's ive seen have to be the original star wars trilogy. I have mine set to normal, which is 1080p....

[Off]: Disable upscaled output.
[Double Scale]*: Upscale and display with double horizontal and vertical dimensions without changing the proportions.
[Normal]: Upscale and display at a size that matches the screen size.
[Full Screen]: Upscale and display at full screen by changing proportions and stretching the image
*This option can be used only when the video output of the PS3 system is set to 1080p/1080i.

i do get what your saying tho. ill have to try find my star wars trilogy.

whats the best setting to have it on then?

think ive jus got it on full screen now.

Normal setting is best for me as my plasma's native resolution is 1080 and my ps3 is set to output 1080.

I'll try that, mine was on double too and I could barely tell the difference.
