the mk2...

don't get me wrong, i loved my mk1 but i would never say it was the more ideal car for a trip to france. The mk1 is a fun drivers car and gave me lots of pleasure round corners, however the mk2 provides that bit more practicality and comfort for long journeys.

Comfort !!!  You Wuss Hartley !! since when has a sports car gotta be comfortable ? theres nowt wrong with the comfort zones in a MK1 mate..... er sorry i mean traitor :oldtongue: , michael youve got plenty of fat on your ar$e mate so you'll be comfortable enough in the MK1 ( shan't comment on Jo... i'll get slapped :clown: ) leave the MK2 for the skinny arses mate & take the mk1     :clown: Jinxy

Yeah right - can't beileve Pete posted that! Heck, Pete - you drove it all the way to Scotland... was that such an ordeal??? ;)

I drove my Mk1 through France last year (Calais->Paris->Dijon->Champagne->Bordeaux->Paris->Calais) and I was soooo thankful I had a decent car (no comments about the Mk2... ;) ) and had no issues with my Mk1 at all, even with a few 8-12 hour driving days.
I'll agree the Mk2 is definitely more comfortable and more of a cruiser. If it's just Autoroute you're doing, the Mk2 will be great. If you're planning on going on any of the A roads, take the Mk1 - you won't regret it!

Gah, still so annoyed I can't come. Just have a beer for me chaps...

I have to admit i did 2500 miles last year in the Mk1 and i never felt uncomfortable.

I think my mk 1 is pretty dam good from that point of view.

Just thought as well it just wouldnt be the same going up the Mulsanne straight in the Mk2. Especially if we have a wee blast cos youll leave me behind :(

Decisions decisions

Go on take the Mk1. Take the red Mk1 you have just bought back

When I said comfort... i was more referring to the fact that when there are 2 people travelling in a mk1 and camping in france for over a week with all the luggage and tents etc. it certainly can get a bit crampt.

The seats in my mk1 were well comfy, i'd never dispute that. But when my seat is pushed all the way forward and my chin is almost touching the steering wheel cause I got a tent behind my seat... not so comfy.

Sorry if i got all you mk1 owners riled up there with the comfort comment... :eye:

Max - Scotland trip was fine, cause I only had the one bag.

Jinxy - I'm only 23 and don't want to drive one car for the rest of my life, so i'm bound to try other cars. I'm no traitor though... i'll be back in a mk1 one day.
I appreciate you wouldn't buy a sports car for comfort but Michael isn't buying a sports car. He's already bought them, and he has a choice of which one to take. For this particular trip only, due to the need for space and the cruising down motorways, I personally (without attacking mk1 owners) would advise on the mk2.

Pete. :clown: :oldtongue: :clown:

Well done Pete

Your quite right give these other cars a go as long as they are Mr2s and come back to the favorite (Mk1) :D

I laughted when i read the bit about knees hitting the chin. It can be a tight squeeze fitting everything in the Mk1 and not good with a tent behind the seat

I am quite looking forward to seeing your mk2 again. Hope it all going well for you and your arranging to have it spick and span for France :thumleft:

Yep, still got the black roadster.. . Yeah it should be good this year with more roadsters, assuming that Mark has still got his mk3 by then - he's just bought dan's vxr220 as he has traded up to a 350z roadster! Aaron's turbo install is done so it should be a beast of a car..

Good to see you again there Pete, but I must've missed you leaving as when I looked for ya again you weren't about anywhere...

Shane - there's no problems with packing stuff in a mk3 - you just have to use the pax seat!!

Anyone fancy going to the French GP on Sunday 22nd June, the week after Le Mans. Magny-Cours is the place we need to be.

I'm just thinking out loud about how we can make this a possibility. After Mont Michel we can tour across camping along the way towards Magny-Cours and then get some cheap camping there. I'm thinking about coming back on the Monday grabbing an early ferry crossing.

Me and Jo are seriously thinking about doing this, would anyone else be interested. A 3 day pass is £70 and this gets you into Enceinte Golf part of the circuit and parking in the same area is £27.12

Yea just buy entry to circuit ticket on the gate, they are on sale from the ticket offices at the circuit from the Monday.
I've just bought 4 x car parking tickets for white from just tickets, have you tried ringing them. If you can't get white then RED or BLUE parking will do, RED is the better one as you get your own slot where BLUE is a free for all and usually is mayhem getting in and parked. One year we actualy had BLUE tickets but there was no space for us to park and they wouldn' let us in even though we had pre purchased tickets.... avoid BLUE if possible is my advice.

Buy now everyone really should be thinking about buying their ferry crossing if not already done.
Remember if Speedferries fill up you might be forced to pay SeaFrance's silly prices, I've paid as much as £260 to cross on Le Mans week with SeaFrance!!!

wow, only 13 weeks to go. It is coming round fast.

Le Mans Stickers

Guys, I will be making the order for the Le Mans stickers at the beginning of April so need the final numbers and payment at this time.

I have stuck up a list of the people who have requested stickers and who have paid.

If you require stickers and your name is not on the list just drop me a PM prior to the 1st April and send on the payment. For all those that are on the list but not marked as paid can I ask that you forward me a cheque for the £15 for the set of 3 decals. If you PM me I can let you have my address.

Here is the list below:

[/b]
1. Shane - Set of 3 in black - *** Paid ***

2. Jinxy - Set of 3 in white - *** Paid ***

3. Michael - Set of 3 in white - *** Paid ***

4. Markii - 3 Sets in Black - *** Paid ***

5. Graham - Set of 3 in black - *** Paid ***

6. Pete - Set of 3 in white-***Paid***

7. Nigel - Set of 3 in black ***Paid***

8. Chris (Roadster) - Set of 3 in white ***Paid***

Guys if you haven't already placed your order let me know as I really need to tie this up at the beginning of April in order to give my supplier time to make these up.

Trust this is in order.
