Re: ALTERNATIVE ARB ??
Thanks Ian
, whats the benefit of having adjustable bars or is it a gimick on our cars, opinions please folks
, cheers, Jinxy

Re: ALTERNATIVE ARB ??
The adjustability allows you ta alter the cars handling between oversteer and understeer to suit your driving style.
The front ones have 3 positions, he rears have 2.
I'd say its a gimmick for road only use, but a good thing on a track car
( though I would say that, as I've got them on my track car
)

Re: ALTERNATIVE ARB ??
I have the unadjustable whiteline arb's 18mm back and 20mm front I haven't driven the car with them on yet due to having my engine out at moment but the lad I got them off said they made a difference.
I'll have to wait til I get the car back on the road to find out for myself also got full poly bush kit and kyb gas strut inserts fitted so I'm sure it should make difference with all this on.

Re: ALTERNATIVE ARB ??
I've got a set of the adjustable ones sat in my dining room

Bought mine from Rogue Motorsport, they're buying a lot of Whiteline stuff now.

I guess the big benefit from bigger ARB's, is that you can run softer suspension settings and let the ARB's control the body roll.
Personally I'd prefer a good ride, that's flat in the corners, than a solid ride that's equally flat in the corners.

Adjustability is always a good thing, though having not tried them yet, I can't comment on how they affect the car.
It's possible that given the much larger diameter than stock, you could end up with a back end that's too lively.

the adjustability should allow you to soften the rear bar
/ stiffen the front and help get the balance right.

I heard rumours a while back that you can fix MK2 turbo rear arb's to the MK1.
Anyone know much about it?

you need to reposition the mounting brackets to do this Ian
could be fun on the track but maybe a bit stiff for road use

I think its the front tubby ARB that fits on the rear of the AW11, not 100% on that, but I think some of the challenge cars were running them.

twosrus.com also do some

Re: ALTERNATIVE ARB ??
We use the mk2 tubby rear ARB's on the back of the Mk1 with camry/carina droplinks and 30mm drop suspension.

Works well in practice.

Re: ALTERNATIVE ARB ??
as olie says,mk2T rear ARB works really well on the rear for the road or track.

As far as fitment goes, use the rearmost mounting hole as the new front one, then drill a new hole further back for the new rear mounting hole.I open the side wall of the chassis with a little U shaped flap just above the rear hole, insert a nut inside the chassis leg, weld it captively and then bend the U flap back down and weld that up,job done.

Have the adjustable whitelines on my MR2 Championship car
- so far I've been very impressed, and am now putting them on the TC.

Keeps the car nice and tight.

AW11 front's won't fit

Incidentally are the MK2 N/A's ARB's not the same as the tubby's?
