Updates very soon.....

Yes, it will be the mother of all shineyness :)

Going to Scotland (Fort William) in it for a week on Saturday, so it really has to be ready! Hopefully the weather will give me a chance to make the most of the shiney car and stunning scenery, and a chance to have a play with that medium format camera I bought off eBay and I've not played with yet....

Bought some new rear quarter window venty things for it as the clips on the original ones are a bit goosed, they should be at Toyota tomorrow along with a few screws for fastening in the side strips (and another mass of Mk1 bits that I won't go into here!).

Jon,
Very clean MR2 you have there. Thanks for the link to your website as well, it's nice to see people that take such pride in their MR2's as yourself.

I agree, it's nice to start with a standard car, that way it's all your choices, not someone elses. Much cheaper the other way though!

Like your red/black colour scheme, the wheel suit it well.

Got some braided hoses, new discs and pads, 4 caliper re-furb kits and a load of new bolts to go on. I'll clean up the wheel wells at the same time and take some decent piccies of the suspension setup (as well as the brake work).

I keep telling myself that it's quick enough, and it is really, so I've not got any firm plans to do any more engine tweeks. I've left the cat in as the engine/exhaust note is currently nice, but un-invasive. However, I'm not a fan of lag, and I keep getting the urge for a GT2860rs, so maybe one day. If I did that, then I'd probably go for a link ECU and a Walbro fuel pump, but then we're talking ~£3k worth of work, and for what... a bit more power, which I can't really use on the road in our nanny state, and ultimately an engine that won't last as long.

Might just stick an extra 3psi on the boost and leave it at that...., and spend the money on the Mk1 engine and get some Tweak-It quad throttle bodies :)

... well, that didn't last long :D

Booked in to Rogue Motorsport again next week for:
- De-cat
- Innovative LC-1 Wideband Lambda Sensor
- Link G3
- Boost Solenoid
- Boost Control Pot
- Fitting and Tuning

Should see me an easy 300bhp at the fly, will report more once it's back!

Forgot to mention....

Fitted my new brakes a couple of weeks ago, cleaned up all the calipers, new discs (zinc plated), new pads, braided lines and Motul RBF600 fluid. Now run in, it stops MUCH better, and I've no longer got nasty rusty discs behind my wheels. Will sort out pics / web update soon.

Will try and fit my uber rare HKS 43mm boost gauge into the stock boost gauge location this weekend. Requires a bit of work, but should look totally stock as the face / needle are the same font/colour as the standard dials :)

Also got the correct speedo face to fit, with the TRC logo window (currently it's a non TRC speedo face and I can't see the TRC light!

Steve,

Sorry for not replying, I didn't get a topic update notification for some reason, so I've only just spotted your question now.

The rears have loads of clearance, no problem there. The fronts clear the Tein strut by about half a little finger... I can just squeeze the tip of my little finger past, so I'd say 3-4mm tops.

I'm running:
Front: Konig Crosshairs, 17x7J ET40 - Toyo Proxes T1-R 215/40ZR17
Rear: Konig Crosshairs, 17x8J ET40 - Toyo Proxes T1-R 245/35ZR17

Hope this helps (if you're not already sorted),
Jon

Just popped back to say..... LOADS more updates to my website.

Boosty now has the Link G3 fitted, running 238bhp @ wheels @ 17psi from Race Shacks Mustang Dyno. Downpipe fitted, wideband lambda, Rev6 Engine fan lid, new brakes and a dyno plot :)

Also updated the Mk1 section with some more shiny bits, added a few pics to the Events section from Tatton Park, and filled out my 'Other Stuff' section.

Here's a pic to wet the appetite :)

Cheers for the info, I have 17x7.5 35ET so I gain 5mm with the offset, but then loose 6.35mm on the additional 0.5" rim, half of which will be inboard, so end up 1.35mm closer to the coilover than you are, thats very close. Fingers crossed I'll get the new wheels I'm hoping for :)
