As already said, before the committee etc could be sued personally as IMOC-UK was not a legal entity on it's own.This is relevant to a lot more than libel action.
A club gazebo getting picked up in a mini tornado and injuring someone could also lead to legal action, as well as many other scenarios
- you can't fob people off by saying
'it belongs to the club, but you can't sue the club because it doesn't exist legally so sod off'
- they will go after the officers of the club.
By forming a limited company, liability is limited to the assets of the company.
Whatever'beef' you have, is your own.
Perhaps you wouldn't have made the same decision.
