Stupid E-Class driver writ my MR2 off

Post by firestormxtreme »

happened a good few months ago but i thought i would share the experiance. Driving home one night from central london on the A40 going westbound, coming up to the turn where u feel the need to slow down and what do i see in my rear view an E-Class doing 140-150mph, guess he knew the turn was coming up, he brakes really hard and tries to undertake me in the fast lane and a van in the middle lane, the fool braked so hard and turned so hard doing this he lost control, i saw his car go really fast towards the slow lane barriers so i put my foot on the gas to try and avoid the incident leaving it behind me, i didnt want to brake because i had no ABS it would have locked up sending me straight into the corner and i didnt want a head on collision, only having a mk2 N/A at the time car just didnt go fast enough and the next thing i know is he just crashed into my passenger side pushing me into the fast lane barrier, my back tried to let loose but i quickly got it in check. I pulled up onto the hard shoulder to see the damage wishfully hoping the damage was minute i was in shock the whole passenger side had caved in, then a few seconds later the E-Class come rolling onto the hard shoulder behind me with his engine hanging out the wheels buckled smoke everywhere, i was going to knock this guys lights into tomorrow, he comes out begging and appologising telling me he has insurance not to worry it will be covered and so on. i was so peed off but i figured leave it hes covered at least and his car was gone no mistakes about that, so i got his details a note saying it was his fault pictures and everything (the idiot instead of holding the steering wheel he let go of it and curled up into a ball the wuss as soon as the car lost control thats why his car bounced off the barrier back across the motorway into me). To my surprise the car was still running there were no leaks in the the car no smoke wheels were fine i got in to check if it was running so that i could get of the motorway and to my amazement it was running perfectly tracking was fine car was running as if nothing had happened you couldnt tell if it werent for the exterior damage. well insurance went through took its time i might add the guy even tried saying it wasnt his fault, well got that sorted and i got £3500 for car and compensation and now i have a Yellow MK2 Rev2 Tubby. i was so sad seeing the insurance company come to take my car to scrap it felt a waste considering everything was working perfectly oh well stupid idiot driver though people really should no how to drive and at least have an idea of what to do in that type of situation not let go of the damn steering wheel, i could go on and on bad mouthing this guy but ill stop now think ive gone on for a bit now. PS ill try and put some pics up of the car when i figure out how.

Bad luck
Could've been a lot worse if you'd had a passenger :-k

Glad to hear you're back in a '2 though :thumleft:

My mate was suppose to claim when i was making mine but he was just too lazy to do anything so he didnt get anything.

i was surprised too that it was still running perfectly, even all the lights were working, started fine and all have to give it to toyota they did make a fantastic little car too bad it cost around 6 to 8k to get it fixed if it was cheaper and worth it i would have done, i actually did like it but i am a lot happer with my turbo apart from the fact that it likes to drink petrol like crazy but i am starting to get used to it.
