[All] [Generic] Dirty Exhaust - What do I clean it with?

Post by c3pete0 »

Hello, I've had a Blue Flame exhaust for about nine months and what was once all nice and shiney is now horrible and dull. Any ideas as to how or what I can clean it with to make it look decent again.

Try Autosol mate. Works well on my Blueflame. You can get a little tube from Halfrauds or most other car accessory places.

Soap and water and then metal polish as stated above.

ive had my blueflame a couple of months now and i spray mine with cheap engine degreaser you get from poundland on it. and it brings it up mint blast off with jet wash job done . very good stuff on alloys aswell and for a pound cheap as chips. it looks like antifreeze always sells out i think other people have the same idea. but when mine stops shining autosol it is and if your exhaust is quite badly faded ive used wet and dry paper with autosol on it for stubborn grime. and if that dont move it a hard mop head on a drill will do it you can get polishing kits fo about £20 you can then polish other bits then. the list is endless worth having ive polished endless motorcycle wheels with mine and other bits still going strong about 6 years old now :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleftImage

I have always stuck to 'Peek' cleans just about anything but is TRUELY amazing at cleaning Stainless Steal & Chrome.

Search on ebay for it comes in a pot and is a blue like paste. Rag on and rib in hard then rag off job done although pleanty of elbow grease is needed.

It sounds weird but trust me it works...
Get some cooking foil, smother it with Coca-Cola and use that. All the crap comes off and sticks to the foil. My old man's been using that on his vintage Roller for about 20 years! It'll work on Chrome, S/Steel, pretty much any shiny metal! Don't use it on anodised aluminium though, cos if it's not absolutely A1 standard it can stain it, showing up the imperfections. Makes nice little swirly patterns though!

I've used Nevr Dull for years. Easy to use and fairly cheap. Doesn't scratch polished metals like some metal polishes will.

Autosol can start to leave swirls, as I've found on my engine, autoglym is a little less abrasive.
