Another question.

I have seen that exhaust on another genuine TRD car. Is it a TRD part? Or has it got any markings? Just interested to know what it is

Not sure about the exhaust mate, I'd be surprised if it's a trd jobbie to be honest, but I'll certainly check!

its a MRD exhaust IIRC,

TRD do an exhaust but nothing special as its only the backbox section, will get a photo/link.

No offence mean't mate, and I do understand that there is a difference between 'real' and 'fake'. I actually almost bought a genuine TRD kit when building mine, but the price was ridiculous at the time. So I took my chances.

TRD seem to interchange parts a bit tbh...certainly on my TC the 'TRD pistons' came with the HKS stroker crank, and the 'TRD Rods' were actually Carillo. Almost certain that isn't an MRD exhaust though, they had carbon end cans and that one doesn't.

Might be new old stock I guess - but the kit is actually advertised at a lot of dealers as they haven't realised they can't order it anymore...if you tried to order it you'd find they couldn't actually get it!

Could do with some info of you actually, Neil or T or Neil. Do you know your exact wheel sizes including offsets? My rears are not exactly how I want them. They just sit slightly to near the arch so I can't get big enough tyres on with ease. I don't know my offsets as the labels are either missing or faded. Just know they are 17 x9 and 17 x10. I considered having the face of the wheel that contacts the hub skimmed slightly to move them in say 5mm.

True, my bad, but you have cut my sentence in half to change the meaning a bit! My point was you are paying extra for the heritage. The perfect fit, which is achievable on a well worked replica, as i'm sure yours is, is a by-product of this. It genuinely wasn't a replica poke, i'm following several replica builds witha kean intrest!

have a look in my garage for offsets though i don't have the gen TRD wheels, just a lot of help from Toni! If you want some pics on how these actually line up let me know and i'll send accross. there are some in the member profiles section aswell.

Your right, looks like it has been changed since GordR owned it!

I am interested in it, but I noticed that when Gord had it advertised in 2006 on the Supra forum, he indicated 43000 MILES in total. But you're saying its less than this....

There was a few more than 35 built officially by TRD. Meaning they came with the number plate on the firewall. So my question is; who came up with this 35 number and why?

so let me get this right, in theory someone could have brought any 1993+ mr2, spanked its sensless and generally abused it for up to 5 years then sent it back to toyota to have a bodykit fitted and suddenly its something special? or am i getting this wrong?

There is very little that people know about the TRD 2000GT and with very scarce official documentation, all that people have to go by is advice from car clubs or references taken trusted sources on the internet perhaps like this :

Or published books such as this;MR2 and MR-S: Toyota's Mid-Engined Sports Car writen by Tadashi Nakagawa,where I believe there is a section on the TRD 2000GT on page 136

But if you would like to show us some proof of where your getting this information I’m sure the online imoc community would be most grateful.

That looks a little familiar!

Just after i had secured mine i got offered a red TRD, and got sent some lo-res images, of which i had read as 38, comparing the files they are exactly the same (yellow dust around plastic trim). This one is a little clearer and as you say is 39.

That car is a NA, and has the lovely TRD Alumi-K alloys.

Out of interest, (a comment i made when sent the pics over a year ago) that plate does not follow the markings of the other 5 TRD cars i have pictures of. For example, starts SW210, where as the others start SW200.

As said above there is a lot of bo$$ocks around on the web about the TRD builds, if you do have more genuine info would be very interested to hear
