[All] [Generic] clay bar lubricant

Post by The Morris »

ive got migures clay bar, but ran out of the lubricant. When i went to Halfords the stuff is £9.99. Surely there is a cheaper option.

Any ideas

Surely 10 bucks isn't too bad for something that you'll only use once or twice a year and therefore last for a couple of years?

Sorry, bud. Don't know of an alternative.

You can probably use any brand of quick detailer in a spray bottle.

cheers

Its just you are using a detailing wax, when all you need is a lubricant, seems a bit over the top.

I don't think the quick detailer is a wax. It's a lubricant designed to make it easy to remove light dust and grit from the car with a cloth without scratching the surface. It also, therefore, makes an ideal lube for clay bar.

It's mild detergent and water.

IIRC, using a bit of window cleaner and water works, but experiment. There was a big thread about it on the RX8 forum. Mostly I only need to clay the car once, when I get it, and then it's given a nice shell of Simoniz old-school waxes and washed regularly :D

What, like that Turtle Wax stuff?

It'll cost a lot more than water, surely?
