[Mk2] [Generic] WOMEN DRIVERS!!!

Post by andydurham »

I appreciate you're not all incompetant fools, but there are a high percentage.

Driving to work this morning, stopped at a roundabout, then pulled out, as is the normal method. Around 50 yards after the roundabout exit is a junction (I was on the road with right of way), a woman decided she would pull out as i was driving past and drove into the side of my 2!!
Thankfully i managed to avoid big damage by swerving away, she has cracked the panel which holds the meshed air intake on the passenger rear quarter, and taken a bit of paint in the process.

The best part is, she started to try and claim it was MY FAULT when SHE pulled onto the main road as I was driving past
STUPID WOMAN!!!

Havent had a chance to have a proper look at the panel. Does anyone know if they are screwed on? Or are they a part of the quarter panel??

(end of rant!!)

Thanks
Andy

Surely you got all her details (and some witnesses?) and are going through insurance? If so hope it goes smoothly :)

She sounds like a right idiot ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

I can see what's happened here, and technically, it wasn't her fault.

You were actually nowhere to be seen when she decided to pull out. However, she then had to do the A-B-C rhyme in her head to remember which pedal made the car go forwards, check her make up, stalled once because the handbrake was still on, restarted the car, then pulled out.

You had the unbelievable temerity to have appeared in front of her car in the meantime.

I see this behaviour in my other half all the time, and she wonders why I volunteer to drive everywhere...

I was safe to include the comment that I was not generalising completely (just a modest 90%) haha!!

hey, I dont want to stick a firework into the fire here, Ive had may accidents in my younger days and work in insurance, its sods law if it looks like she's gone into the side of you, but its at the front of your car or wing, it will be settles 50/50, in meaning you'll both claim of your own insurances!

I know its boll0cks, but unfortunately its the way it is, its the same if your travelling at 50mph in a 50 zone and some silly old trout pulls our a metre in front of you, if you cant stop, it goes down a a fault claim!

Dont want to put a spanner in the works but just what you may be hit with further down the claim, remember, even if she's admitted fault and its totally her to blame, her insurance act as her solicitor if you like and try to get her and indeed themselves out of a pickle.

Good look anyway fella, and your being very generous with the 90%, id say 99.9%

Elaborate further please, I am not certain what you mean?
Your saying she can possibly claim knock for knock if she has run into the side of my car, whilst I am travelling on a road with right of way???

Thanks

if its full side on and your cars like banana then no, of course not, but if you can look at both damaged cars and it looks like you could, not have, clipped her on the way out, then they'll try it on!

Insurance co.'s try it on anyway, like I say though, banana or back quarter, you'll be fine, front end and you'll have issues!

pain in the ass insurance claims!

good luck anyway

That's ridiculous. The guy was ON the roundabout - therefore he shouldn't have to be avoiding idiots who pull out into him.

I'm not at all saying you're wrong, it just seems wrong that what you say might mean he has difficulty claiming 100% non-fault.

did you have witnesses? cos if not.. theres nothing to stop her making up a story completly different than to whats actually happened and then try to make you look like a liar.. obv ending in a 50/50 settlement!

Check the guide here for removal:
http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/Knowledge_Base/o ... d=243.html

I nearly had someone drive into the side of me, I'd been sat in the middle of the main road in a 'right turn filter lane' waiting to turn right into a minor road, with someone (a woman  ) waiting at the end of the minor road to turn right. They must've checked both left and right, but how can you check left and right without seeing what's directly in front of you. I'd been stationary, 8 feet in front of her eyes, for around 20 seconds  Fortunately she noticed and stopped about 2 inches from me \:D/

it just seems wrong that what you say might mean he has difficulty claiming 100% non-fault

This is exactly what Im saying, personal experience on a number of occassions, I was on a roundabout once, dual carriage way, I was in the right hand lane, going straight ahead, a girl in the left hand lane, she had no indicator on went into the side of me as I went straight! Now she admmited fault, crying but when that letter came through for Eagle Star at the time, all hell broke loose, said all kinds of crap and in a nutshell it went 50/50!

There is no such thing as a 100% non fault claim unless your fully comp and not in your car! insurance co's will try anything to avoid, as you would if you were writing the cheque!

Hope it does go your way and she admits to the end its her fault, all depends on the underwriter at the end of the day whether they want to fight or admit fault, Id say 95% of the time they will fight! but this doesnt mean you'll lose, your insurance is fighting too!

I don't know about that. I had someone rear end me (  :-$ ) in my civic a few weeks back and I got it all sorted in 2 weeks no problem whatsoever. I'm fully comp though.

If you're not fully comp then you are asking for trouble anyway!
