Adhesives and fillers...

Post by stevowaring »

Just about to fit a set of veilside sideskirts and a veilside spoiler (copies) to my rev 1.

I don't particularly want to drill into my sills, and would rather stick them on where I can. What adhesive is good for this?

I also need to remove my rev1 spoiler to be replaced with the veilside and know this is going to leave a lovely set of holes on each side of the car. Any ideas how I can go about filling this myself before I get the lot painted!

Thanks

Stevo, I'm having my side skirts readjusted as the fibreglass was thick enough for the door to catch. Instead of being screwed into the sills, the body shop are trimming down the skirts, blending and bonding them lower down- I'll ask what they're using next time I'm in.

Me too, i rivetted the side skirts in and filled the gaps with clear bathroom sealant and 4 months on it's still done the job.

"Silkaflex", I've heard that name before.

At the moment the sideskirts are on, just not screwed (or glued) to the sills yet.

Thanks for your help people!

sikaflex, i bloody hate that stuff. Its just like a slightly harder form of siliconje, but totally useless to rub down for painting.

IF there are bits showing, i.e need painting, then use tiger-seal. It does what sikaflex is supposed to do but much much better :) costs about £6-8 a tube and takes me about 1.5 tubes to fit an entire bodykit so pretty cheap. Once that stuffs on its not going anywhere, you wouldnt even need pot rivets

Where can you get tiger seal from, I haven't properly fitted by sideskirts yet, they need a little adjusting before be permanently fixed!

Thanks
