3 Red lights of death!

Post by ICEMAN »

Hey everybody how things. Well The ICEMANS 360 has just died. Got the dreaded 3 red lights. Anybody know the best way to get the Microsoft pile of cheese fixed? I have seen a few places on the net that will fix it for around £65. Not sure who to trust to be honest :?

I only really play GOW and PRG 4 it doesnt get much use so i was quite shocked when it died. ](*,)

P.S Platstation 3 all the way :eye:

Just phone Microsoft mate, give them your serial number next to your bar code and let them do the rest.

When did you buy it?

MS have accepted liability for and extended their warranty on the '3 red lights problem' by 3 years.

So you can send you 360 back to MS for a free repair.

My bros just done the same thing.

Wonder who thought of that trick. It cant be a good idea though. I read it makes your 360 overheat so it resets itself?

I think i will call microsoft and see what they say.

Alright guys. Try this...

1) Turn off console and disconnect everything off it.
2) Take off Harddrive.
3) Plug tv cable and power supply back in.

Turn on...I got the ring of doom a few weeks back with my Elite. After a lot of swearing and threatening to attach it to the back of my 2 and drag it round st ives, I though I'd unplug everything and reattach it all bar the harddrive (as ring = hardware failure). It worked no problems. Plugged harddrive in and it's been ok for the last few weeks.
Try this then contact MS.
Good luck
Chris

DO NOT DO THE TOWEL TRICK!!

its BS. mite work for a few days after but thats it.

to truely mealt the solder which is what breaks in the 360 you would need to heat it to around 300 degrees.

now as you can imagine the rest of the console may suffer during this process!!

an MS spokesman confirmed all that too.

You would when MS get it back, test it and find that it has had no ventilation and so cooked itself = no warrantee fix.

But anyhoo, who cares

Thanks mate i will give this ago 1st. I thought they fixed this problem with the Elites?

I dont think I will be buying another Microsoft machine to be honest. I had nothing but trouble with my x-box crashing, not loading discs and turning itself on  The only way to turn it of was by pulling the power cable out the back  Weird machine,
I was talked into buying a 360 by my cousin (Who needs enemies when you have cousins  ) And now thats dead. The sad fact is my PS3 has been used for double the amount of time and runs fine!

Mr Gates sort your life out
