[Mk2] [Generic] Volk wheel nuts - key lost!!!!!!

Post by Leon. »

I seem to have lost my locking nut key #-o  ](*,) ](*,) #-o

I'm hoping it will magically turn up somewhere but might not :tumbleweed:

What are my options other than drilling the locking nuts out? Does anyone know if I can order another key off Volk?

Being 6 sided still I might have a crack with a larger socket but will look around a bit more first 8-[

Sorry just reread your post and you state their six sided so that means a socket not a key

If you don't get any joy ive got one of these wheel nut removers that are reverse threaded you can borrow instead

I bought one of these a few years ago, needed to remove locking lugs. The thing worked like a champ. (rachet was crap though and went in the bin)
I eventually destroyed it after using it with a impact wrench on some stubborn rusty bolts. By that time it had already paid for itself.

Thanks for the offers lads  :thumleft:

I've found a 20mm socket fits very well, but its 12 sided so a bit reluctant to use it just in case :-k

Luke, do you have a spare one that I could buy off you? Do they all look the same? 8)

Its basically a 20mm six sided nut with a groove cut into one of the sides. All the others are 19mm - 20mm is not a standard size.

They're like this, in black. So the locking nut looks the same as those but is 1mm bigger and has a groove down one side (not quite sure why actually - I guess partly to identify it :-k )

b0ll0cks

The 20mm socket was useless - the locking key sides ARE different lengths

Will head down to a tyre place or buy one of those universal things instead ](*,)

Update - a 6 sided 20mm doesn't work either - its too small, and a 20mm 12 sided is too big ](*,)

So its gona have to be one of these and quick, I've got a hub dyno in 7 days

The nut chamber is not very wide, do these ones lock on straight or any old how? Just that a guy at a tyre place didn't want to use his tool as he thought it might damage my rims if it gripped at a slight angle...

My nuts are standard size 19 not sure if these will fit...? :-k

What do you mean reverse threaded? Do they tap into the nut or something? :-k

And what did you mean by your last sentence, doesn't seem to make sense  :thumleft:
