[Mk2] [Generic] reverse wiring indicators

Post by BLZ-8027 »

Just curious as to if this is possible ?
I want to try and change the indicator wiring so rather than being off and then flash on for indicators. Can it be on permanently and flash off for indicator? :-k

reverse indicators

Post by mr2guy »

can be done with relays quite simply, without looking at the wiring cant explain right now, but could have a look, not sure how viable this would be for m.o.t. time though, jim
let me know if you want me to sort some wiring info for you to do this

Thanks for the answer, the reason behind this is i was thinking about wiring the toblerones as cruise lights ,so they would need to be on permanently
and as you said they would still need to flash when needed as indicators and for the MOT
Its just an idea at the minute so don't go out of your way to sort out the diagram but thanks if you do :thumleft:

I love the look of it. The US rear quarters have them installed as stock.

All the indicators still work. The side lights at the front are just the orange replacements for the normal blade type of 5w interior bulbs. The rear and toblerone lights are just a bit of work with a drill/dremmel and a needle file. That way you can fit the connectors and bulbs in place. I use the 3mm dash lights off old cars. Just go to a breakers and rip a couple of dashboards appart.

People don't sit in your way much on motorways when they see you coming blazing up behind them

can you put up a pic of the front toblerones please?

Dude don't worry about "stealing" an idea. People have same ideas all the time. Great minds think alike, just some of us a bit quicker

Touche
Here you go these are the best i have, if you don't get a full set of four pieces you need to cut your front bits as the orange part is slightly longer on these
I was going to fit them on the wing between the arch and the door as they are almost the same size ,and put uk blanking strips in place of the toblerones
If your after some try the American forums as they like the jap tobes and will swap you a set?

To be honest I prefer the toblerones as the protrude from the car, which I think for running lights is better. Defo worth giving it a go though. All of mine just run from the side lights rather than as "actual" running lights.

They're also MOT failures too, so best put a bullet connector on it so you can quickly turn them off before MOT time. :)
