You know the thing that will always bug me about these...

When i first bought my mr2, around 2 years ago i was looking at these on ebay, I asked about them on the forums and was told there not much good because they cant be mapped here, so i left it.

They were selling back then for between 60-100 pounds #-o

I bought one for £100 and sold it for just under £400, almost paid for my power fc :)

Its the GT4 guys that go nuts for them, i think cos one guy got his on the rollers back to back with the stock ecu and got 45 bhp more than stock.

i am not aware of any one with the technology to map one in Britain but if it was worthwhile then I'm sure there would be a few takers...in japan its mappable so :-k

probably just like a "chipped" upgrade because nobody seems to be able to do owt with them!

probably just advances the timing a little and runs a little bit lean over stock, gives some gains, increases chance of knock.

I seen the buy it now price, but you can bet it ain't gonna sell for that much!!

Actually I saw a similar type of modified stock ECU sold via 'Buy it now' by a guy called Keith Tau on e-bay for around that much. It was about a year ago - he seems to specialise in finding/selling rare parts and generally his prices reflect this - so who knows it might sell

Agree with mrtee that they normally go second hand for between £200 - £350 for a rev3 one. (although one did sell for over £600 less than 6 months ago on ebay and that was through regular bidding)

Rev 1/2 ones usually sell for less - around £150 to £200 on ebay from what I've seen.

I was running one for over a year. l only swapped in the power FC last month to get ready for larger injectors otherwise I would happily have left my car running the blitz.

My car achieved 314WHP at 18PSI (TD06) and that Blitz ecu only had a generic CT20b+bolt-ons map on it.

I think if you are careful initially when setting up boost and use a wideband to check you aren't running too lean, then it is possible to get good results from running them despite the fact you can't alter the map :D

you ran a TD06 on a CT20 map at 18PSi?!

you must have been really lucky that it didn't run really lean surely?

AFAIK they only have a FCD and slightly raised boost, so I can't see the point of buying one. :-k Defo for £750 you could get a second hand LINK AND mapping.

The blitz/mines are just the same as the ats rom tunes,
Can be potentially dangerous if not checked properly when installed!

When I decided to go PFC route, Ryan told me that my existing ECU was a Blitz. I sold it on Ebay a couple of months back for £360 to a guy with a GT4. He came round to collect it, popped it in shot up and down the road and willingly handed over £360 notes and thought it was a steal. Told me it made "a massive difference" to his acceleration.

Hi - yes that was on stock 540cc injectors+stock engine. The only upgrade to the fuel system was the Rogue 255LPH fuel pump. It was a 4th gear pull to redline at Perfect Touch (beyond redline actually as the limiter was moved to 8500 on my blitz, LOL).
I was running a basic Devil's Own water injection system at the time as an added safety precaution.

I think I was pretty much approaching the limit of fueling with the 540cc injectors at stock fuel pressure. Later on though, out of curiousity I did take the car to 7K RPM in third gear WOT to see exactly what AFR I would be running at 17.9PSI.

Turns out at 7K RPM my injectors had just peaked at 95% duty cycle. The interesting bit is the AFR was 11 - suprisingly rich bearing in mind that this was with a TD06 and an ECU mapped for CT20b+bolt-ons.

This suggests a MR2 running a CT26 or CT20b would be unlikely to be able to move enough air to be in danger of running lean with one of these ECUs at 18PSI. Knock would probably be the main worry but the ecu does still retain the stock ECU's knock response mechanism.

I think the main danger of running an uprated turbo with the CT20b mapped Blitz ECU was more if you did a WOT pull from a low RPM in 4th or 5th gear so that the engine is under a lot of load at low-ish RPMs before the AFR has had a chance to richen up.

If I remember correctly the original retail on the Blitz ECUs was £695 possibly with a trade in of your stock ECU as well but I can't seem to find the web page anymore

This is a good link however and shows a stock verses blitz comparison:
http://gtfour.co.uk/what/ecu/blitz/blitz_ecu.htm

I liked my Blitz ECU - it's a decent enough mod if you are only thinking of doing bolt-on upgrades.

dont get me wrong im not dissing the blitz, i had one, but for that money i just couldnt justify buying a blitz over a standalone mappable ecu, bloody good power increase you had , i never had mine rolling roaded, wish i had :thumleft: i was more questioning the price rather than the unit itself :)

Agree that £750 could get you a second hand PFC+mapping... I imagine very few Blitz ECUs actually sell at that price
