[Mk2] [NA] EXtreme Murcielago

Post by placebo786 »

Hi guys now I know how some of you feel about the Ferrari replica based on the MR2 but what is your opinion of the Murcielago replica based on the MR2. Its by a company called Extreme. I had a chat with them seemed very helpful and they said I could even put in a V8 and the car unlike the 355 replica is 100% like the real thing from the exterior.
The cost should come to about £30,000 with me providing the mr2.
Now thats a lot of money when you think what kind of cars you could have for £30,000 e.g,
964 turbo (funnily enough I had covin replica once looked the part but was a beetle underneath).
Basically getting an idea what you guys think.

Cheers.

whats the point in spending that kind off money on something thats really a toyota, i think its silly, if you want a lambo then you should buy one :-k

and 30k , you can get a lot of car for that kind of money, not a mr2 dressed as a wolf :?

Personally I think it is a total waste of money, a reason for everyone to laugh and a real shame to turn a good looking car into something similar to a supercar but underneath the surface - nothing like a supercar!

Replica's are for wannabee's - but the only attention they get is from people who mock.

30k we could make you a RIDICULOUS spaceframed monster!

Tubular chassis, with a stonker of an engine, then any panels you want.

My fabricators are currently offering, for £18k a subaru based kit car, built from scratch. Their RX7 engined caterham is a bit of a monster!

That's a complete waste of money IMHO.

You might be able to get an MR2 to compete in a straight line. But around corners? Where does the V12 noise come from?

Don't do it!

------

RX7 engine'd Caterham? Now, that's something I'd like to see!

Yeah I guess you guys are right it's a ridiculous amount really.
I never truley enjoyed owning that Covin replica with a beetle engine.
However that only cost about £4000 manged to recoup £2500 of it when I sold it.
For £30,000 I think I would prefer a cobra replica with a Chevy 5.7 V8 in and it would proibably hold its value better and you wont be ridiculed as much.

Thanks for the advice guys.

P.S Haw cheap would a on the road 355 replica have to be for you guys to even consider.

LOL,dont,t matter how cheap/expensive,most on this site will hate it/you for doing it as this is were the purists are.So you will get slated big time.
personally i love my 2 and would not go with ferrai kits etc although I am doing a TRD rep.

But i have also been in to kitcars since passing my test and love some of the fake kits and think they look great, so if you like em mate don't worry what any one else thinks.Just do it and enjoy the build.you will get great satisfaction in doing it.
just my 2p worth.

An MR2 +porsche tuner rabbit corp+£30k=pagani zonda

If you're really keen, forget the V8, go for the BMW V12 with Audi transaxle:-

Big no from me... I don't mind the 355 kits.. think they look quite nice, but I'd still keep stuff like the rev3 rear lights etc.. so you can still tell its an MR2 and keep it all badged as a Toyota still.. £30k seems more than steep!

Don't really understand the concept of having one car and trying to pass it off as something else, by all means be inspired by cars like that, but I wouldn't want to pretend its something its not!

...has anyone seen this... very random!

I personally hate kits trying to make cars into something they're not and never will be.

£30K to fit a V8 to an MR2 and a lambo kit?

What a waste of money.

Yeah but some cars are so rare and expensive that a kit is the only option.
Besides a some of the modifications done to these mr2's they are no longer stock they are basically kits anyway with a manufactures badge.
Some of the bodykits are ridiculous and change the appearance of the mr2 anyway.
I understand the stupidty of trying to pass an mr2 of as Ferrari or Anything else for that matter but that aside I think the kit enhances the look of the car yeah a bit pricey but that front is fantastic. Aesthetically its probably the perfection of bodykitting an Mr2.
What if a person were to leave all MR2 badges on, and be proud that it was a Toyota would you still ridicule him.
Some people spend astronomical amounts on perfomance upgrades for minimal perfomance gain and thats fine if that floats your boat.
However some people prefer the asthetics coupled with good old Toyota reliability.
Kit cars are about putting your own personal spin on things just like enthusiasts do with theirs.
Just my 2 cents
P.S There is a guy I met a couple of years ago with a 355 replica and on his number plate he had written my other car is a F355 confusing and funny at the same time.

Um you do realise that for that sort of money you can quite easily buy a real 355?? There's plenty of them around!

For the money which would you rather own?

30k would get you a ropey lhd 355 maybe.

then you have the running costs.

i dont like the 355 kit on the mr2 as i think it doesnt look right but i can see the point in replicas of something rare/expensive so long as its done well.

Well it must be a good one if you think it's tral.
It actually is an american kit based on a non stretched fiero.
So is actually shorter than the real thing.
But you can get a strteched version aswell.
