I happen to think the XBOX pads are crapola too, But i guess it's because it was the latecomer and i was so used to the PS design.
I dislike them that much as soon as i got an XBOX the first thing i purchased for it was a PS2 pad adapter off ebay which made it a much more enjoyable gaming experience. The possitve thing about the XBOX pads is the analogue trigger buttons. Great idea esp. for accel/brake on driving games and you get used to is straight away and is tons better than X/O or right analogue on PS pads. Downside is the rip-off new L2/R2 triggers on the PS3 pad, Badly implemented, Not comfy to hold down for long periods and too small and my chunky fingers slip off everynow and again, Should have made them bigger or put a small lip/ridge along the edge of the button
