mk1 MR2 SC:Head Gasket Faliure *Reduced*

Post by Negativvv »

My mk1 SC's headgasket died and im no longer in any great mood to keep or repair it...

Right the car is a White T-bar where someones painted the roof Black for some reason.

Its been in the UK since 1989 according to the paperwork i have and has 132k on the clock. Tax runs out at the end of the month (Dec) and MOT is until next March. All the dials are UK and the Cruise Control has had its restrictions on speed removed. The Air Conditioning works, it was refirbished not too long ago, same with the T-Bar seals (all T-bar bags and blinds are intact). Gearbox shifts fine, no synchro issues. Theres bits of rust on the front and rear arches, it doesnt look all that bad compared to some out there!
As far as i know the car has a bigger pulley, it pulls hard when it worked so cant be have been a stock SC! Stopped and steered with no problems but the alloys def need a balancing done. Comes with a HKS Mushroom filter. Wheels and tyres are 15" Wolfrace with Bridgestone Potenza RE720 which are practically as new.

Theres a CD player in it with a gimmicky display with dolphins and other bizarre things while a song places, the speakers seem pretty good too.

Since ive had it, i fixed the coolant leak which was a simple metal pipe that needed welding. Its been painted too just so itll never rust again. I did service it and put some new spark plugs in it, but apart from the plugs itll have to be done again if your doing the Head Gasket.

As i said the Head Gasket has gone, you wont be driving it anywhere. Will have to be put on the back of something or towed.

First person with £800 can have the car!

And some pictures!

What the symptoms, is it overheating badly or just a bit of oily coolant?

Columns of white smoke from the exhaust and pressure in the coolant that makes one leap out of the way or be scolded by superheated coolant...

It will need to be done if the car is going to work again. I stopped driving it immediately :?

I may still fix it myself or break the car, depending how i feel or whatever offers come in!

Right, from what i can gather from the old MoT certs, the mileage is in miles. It was KM up until the mid 90s then turned into miles at a similar figure when converted (theres gaps in the MoTs)

Someones spent some time on this car in the past. Theres lights in the boot and frunk, and a red light on the door so you dont bump into it at night, which i dont think is standard to mk1s! Theres also something else i'll inform you about if you were to take the car off me, its not me trying to hard sell but if i was to reveal it, it would defeat the point of its inclusion with the car

The FIX IT?! SELL IT?! Pointer is flicking back and forth a bit in my mind right now
