Modified late-spec mica mk1 S/C - £2495

Post by Sports Toyota Breakers »

I'm considering moving on from our s/c so am seeing if there is any interest. I've sweated a fair bit on this car but it does need cosmetic attention.

Late spec S/C with folding mirrors, middle brake light, mirrored t-tops etc
12 Months MOT
No Tax (private roads available for test drive, post office just down the road)
94k km (still in km)
Koni 4-ways all round, refurbed casings, fensport lowering springs
Full refurbed sus arms all round (hammerited), all adjustments freed off and fitted with superflex bushes.
Magnex exhaust
Large pulley (don't know what flavour)
ST185 front brake upgrade with brand new discs & redstuff pads
Aftermarket cone air filter (boot mounted)
Aftermarket dished steering wheel
Crystal side repeaters
New handbrake cables and various other bits
Oil & filter changed regularly, Redline MT90 in the gearbox, new brake fluid (old stuff flushed through)
15" Team Dynamics white wheels with good tyres all round, alloys not very old

Rust-wise it is very very good, underneath has no rust that I can find. All four arches are completely clear. It did have a tiny bit of welding in the frunk for MOT purposes - often a weak point when the car has had the front parked in grass at some point. I have removed the aircon comp as it needed a re-gas, but this would be provided with the car to refit if requested.

I won't lie, cosmetically the car isn't brilliant. A few dings around the car, missing pinstriping, and the lacquer has peeled on one front wing and one rear quarter (seems to plague mica cars for some reason). Interior is reasonable, though it does have an unfetching blue drivers seat to replace the bucket seat it came with.

Other stuff that needs attention:

Drivers T-bar leaks in very heavy rain.
Drivers window has stopped working (will sort if I get a spare couple of hours).
Front drop-links are knocking (will be replaced if anyone shows serious interest in the car).
3rd gear synchro will crunch if you rush a change, fine if you H&T or just take it easy. I'd guarantee any s/c without a rebuilt box will do the same thing.

I would stress that this isn't a 'project' car for the potential new owner (I've been using it as a daily driver) but like any mk1 you need to be a bit of an enthusiast (/nutter). The car goes, handles and stops as you would imagine from the mods.

Give me a shout if interested and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Hi Jon, with regards to droplinks, the ebay seller from Harrogate has agreed to send me a replacement free of charge... I think you used the same seller?
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

(Sigh) Could it wait a month...?
Having seen this car, I'd have loved to have gone for it... Just spending a bit too much on the current Mk1 as it is at the moment... :(

Thanks Ollie - to be honest I'm shying away from using him again. What's odd is the rears he supplied are absolutely fine.

Cheers Max, would be a great new project for you. To be honest I keep toying with the idea of changing it to a turbo setup and having a go at racing next season, but hate the thought of ruining a perfectly reasonable S/C (plus I'm a crap driver!).

Still for sale, will be spending some time sorting the issues over the Christmas period, and have a new matching grey seat & drivers doorcard on their way also.

Cheers,
