will fit rear ok on standard car front i was told max 7-71/2 rim width max.
thinkyou will need diff suspension if you want to fit. think it may depend on offsets as well eg wheels will extend arch which is illegal or hit against susp leg.keep searching your answers are here just keep looking try searching "offsets"lots of these size wheels come off skylines shame.

Those wheel offsets are pretty good for an MR2. Only thing cosmetically is the front rims wil be sticking very slightly outside of the arch, whereas the rear will be very slightly inside of the arch.

As for the tyre - most manufacturers recommend at least a 9.5" or 10" wide rim to fit a 285/30 tyre. So with a 9 inch the widest you could go would be be a 275 width.

I think the closest you will get is 275/35/18 but that's a really big/heavy tyre. Are you running a really high power MR2?

Tyre sizes for the front I have read about on the US forum that have worked for some people are 215/35/18 and 225/35/18 - although they say the 225/35/18 is extremely close and may possibly rub on the spring perch as it is a very large diameter front wheel for a MR2.
