rather than being an air to air cooler like an IC, where the air is charge is cooled by the ambient air temp passing through the IC, a chargecooler is the same principle but has a water jacket round the core so its cooled by water to air.
the heat exchange between water and air is far better than air to air.
also helps to keep more constant intake temps.
cheers Rory, I'll be checking that this weekend if it stays dry.
Neil_turbo - I was lazy - I just left the org intercooler complete with fan in place. No error lights for me
lol good call! i must admit a lot of the time of my install was getting the intercooler out! If you ever think you may go back definately leave it there!
Still undecided whether to go for a CC or IC
i would never go back to a intercooler on the mr2 after feeling the difference the st205 made.
oh as far as getting rid of the warning light on your dash due to the fan, just unplug the relay in the boot, its a large black box with a connector at the bottom, around 3x2 inches in size.
cheers karam
guys, im in the middle of doing the install on my rev3 and the engine hanger that is next to the dizzy cap is causing me nightmares as its stopping the CC from lining up and piping up.
Can anyoone help me here as all the pictures are with the cooler on and no hanger to be seen in sight
quite a few people on here inotice have fitted a 205 cooler to a Rev 1/2 are you using the 185 throttle sock?
im assuming the inlets are the same size?
i have the 205 throttle sock and its too big.
any help would be great.

Are you sure?
I've a rev2 and used a ST205 sock. Just had to lengthen the holes towards the centre and use tapered cap-head screws.
You can just see them here (you'll need to click on the picture to enlarge it).
By using the ST205 sock you end up with a huge step on the intake tract and a load of slotting on the bolt holes, I suggest that you use the st185 sock and warm it up in some water and pull it over the ST205 core leave it there until your ready to fit on the car, its a much better fit, Note its very tight the first time you fit it but worth it.
You can see mine here, it also includes some pictures of the wiring I used to switch speed depending on core temp, and where I placed the pump etc. http://www.frickerm.co.uk/Projects/Proj ... index.html
Oh one final note I suggest you fit the pump head lower than the core so it bleeds easily otherwise this can be a pain.
Hope this helps mate.
