Compression Tester

Post by Knightkiller »

Quick question, a lot of the compression testers I have seen (Draper etc.) come with 14/18mm adapters.

That ok for the 4A-GE?

try to find one that you can tighten satisfactorly down those deep recesses.

Otherwise you are spinning the rubber hose #-o IYSWIM

may then give false reading...

You only want to tighten to finger tight anyway - dopn't want to overtighten

I have a draper that I tighten using the hose and it tightens up just fine and readings are accurate.

Incidentally, Knightkiller, why do you think you need to use a compression tester? Problems?

if you have a air compressor, its probly worthwhile to buy a leakdown tester. much better than compression tester and can tell you a lot more.

So I can tighten that draper one just by using the hose? Sounds dead simple then, prices are much better than I expected looking on ebay. The ones in Demon Tweeks are 90quid+

No not any problems fortunatly -G-. Just got a long run coming up through the alps down to sicily in the '2 and I wanted to give the old girl the once over. :D

Hmmm... not at the moment but definatly on the list for the future so will bear a leakdown tester in mind. Dont really want to go into to much detail though, just a basic check on the compression figures is good for me at the moment. :thumleft:
