[Mk2] [Generic] Steerings got play

Post by Mr2GtBlue »

The steering on my car is well sloppy and is making a slight vibration/noise?

Tonight I have looked underneath and had a yank of all the moving parts etc

How much play can a wheel bearing have to be out because my drivers wheel has a tiny bit more play than the passenger wheel?

Also the steering rack on one side where it comes out of the gaitor ( not the track rod end) has a tiny amount of play on it it, what is acceptable? and could this tiny amount of play be to blame?

cheers

there shouldn't be any play in the track rod ends and there shouldn't really be any play in the wheels bearings either.

ok ive had a better look,

Nearside front Koni shocker is leaking/knackered,

nearside front bearing has small play,

inner track rod has a small amount of play,

offside rear bearing has definite play,

Both rear tyres are really worn on inside edge, and need replacing.
