Anglesey 24 Nov 07

A few pics from yesterday at Anglesey

The weather wasn’t exactly the best – blowing a gale with occasional showers

The car developed a loud knocking at one point, but with the help of Si was traced to a mis-matched wheelnut

Sy ( SySanguinary ) made it with his Mk1.5 – engine swap only completed a couple of days before !

One minor thing not finished – spot the loose speedo cable

Following a last minute fuel leak on their SC, Anna and Speedy hired a BATCat.

Kirsty’s wasn’t the dirtiest Mk1 there though – not after Jo went offroading anyway

Proof that backwards motion was involved

That wasn’t the worst off of the day though – this BMW smacked the pit wall very hard indeed, showering us with broken glass and causing the only red flag of the day. Driver and passenger were unhurt.

Kirsty managed to bag a passenger ride in an Arial Atom

She also persuaded the owner to take my son for a ride after the trackday was over – thanks Kirsty !

By the end of the day the wind still hadn’t abated, and we were all freezing

A good day though, despite the weather

Great pics Mart :+: , although, you know there is only one supernail, and it's sat outside our house, trying to set itself on fire..

Yes, Friday night, car all ready, freshly rebuilt at home, and then freshly remapped (big thanks to Rogue Motorsport). Filled with the trackday gear, taken to the petrol station.. and then come back out from paying to notice a large amount of petrol leaking from the underside of the car..

Carefully drive home, get it up on ramps to discover that it's leaking from above the fuel tank somewhere.. it's already dark of course, so call Anna (who is already in Anglsey), to tell her that the car is now trying to torch itself - after already throwing tyres & indicator bulbs at me.

Being the star she is, she only went and got a Caterham for Saturday instead. So now I've driven a Caterham, they are pretty :+:, but seriously tricky to drive if you are my kind of size - the pedals really are close together.

Also, went horse riding today for the first time ever, which was cool as well, and a great way to see the countryside. I guess there are pictures of that to come..

Thanks to everybody for coming, I heard that was further panel bending today, but I'll wait for those who are there to come back before I say anything more about it.

Anglesey is always a great weekend away, this one was great for different reasons. Still annoyed that I couldn't take the car I'd spent a lot of time and money getting ready for it - but still, driving a caterham and horse riding more than made up for it :+:

Hi Mart,
It was about 3.45pm on the Sunday.(fortunately so only lost last 10mins)
Found Lauren, as she promised to come out with me, to give me some tips (after my constant badgering for the last couple of months)
It was the first corner after the starting grid.
Total Honesty:-
I took the corner too fast and didn`t get it close enogh to the apex. but it still felt ok, until my rear drivers wheel went off the tarmac. Felt like it went into a big hole. It catapulted me ar$e first into the tyre wall.
Toby is a goner - drivers rear 1/4.
Will post some pics when I get chance

Also :-

 BIG THANKS TO SY
Drove all the way from Manchester to collect me and Toby ,
You really are a hero

:( APPOLOGIES :(
TO Lauren who was passengering at the time,
Ended up with a 4hr A+E wait, after gashing her finger and banging her shoulder on my boom box. (and to shish who drove her there)

Looking for a track day asap, as I need to get out there again, to put this sleep

It was a fantastic weekend, Shame about Toby
(spoke to Mel. A 1.5 is the favorite so far)

Sy - Thank you again sooooo much

Dave again, totally gutted for you mate, the incident was not deserved :(
As said though, least Toby will live again in another form :thumleft:

As for the racing district boys - Totally deserved. That will teach the idiots to "race" each-other on a track day and on a track they didn't know. Not suprising their antics stopped once the accident happend. BaT were not impressed and neccessary words were had with those involved.

 Excellent news Dave! \:D/

The Mk1.5 really is a top little track weapon! 8) Even at 6psi of boost (which is what Sy's is currently running at) it's really very quick indeed.
On full boost it should fly! :D

PS Massive thanks for letting me do a couple of sessions in your car. I will repay the favour at the next trackday we attend.
