Mk1 central locking

Post by dartis »

Im a new mk1 owner(1989),just bought my 1st one at the weekend.only small problem with it is,when i lock the drivers door(with the key),the passenger doesnt lock too.however, when i lock the passenger door, they both lock.the central locking switch inside the car also doesnt operate either door.could the swith be the root of my problem,or could it be an actuator in the passenger door?

Each door does have a central locking actuator as well as a locking solenoid. I have experienced this problem when one had failed. I also owned a supercharger that did not have central locking, I installed a little actuator and it worked a treat.

I have spare actuator micro switches in stock & door solenoids if you find either at fault. I would also recomend looking that the joint of wires within the drivers door, this is where my own mk1's problem lay when i had C/Locking problems, the joints can get verdigree (sp!) on them which would eventually eat away at the copper wires resulting in a break of contact, good luck, Jinxy

thanks for that every1,the wd40 done the trick, just a bad connection in the passenger door actuator.
