Wasn't keen on it this year. Novelty wears off watching cars going in a straight line over and over once you've been a few times. The worst bit is, there's thousands of people there and only a few get a stadium seat and if you don't get one of them, you have to stand on tips toes to see over everyone else hogging the fence. It's not very organised and I was more entertained at Max Power last year.

Don't get me wrong, there we're some amazing MR2s there with some awesome times this year :thumleft: I just don't see the appeal unless your actually doing the driving anymore.

hehe. Obviously I mean no disrespect to anyone. As I say, it was entertaining watching some mean MR2s show up a lot of cars there, but I stand by my thoughts that they need more of them stadium seats around. The handling circuit was quite good though. I would only really go again to compete to be honest as that's the real fun behind TOTB

Too right. You got some good times too. I just can't stand all the cabbages there saying "my saxo would have that" and if you don't get there silly early to get a place at the front of the fence, it's a bit poo and overpriced. I'm going to be saving to go see drifting or F1 instead from now on

I'll bump this one as I'm sure most of the interest parties and MR2 team are subscribed :)

The TOTB DVD is delayed due to the chap doing it, Simon Hinshelwood, being seriously ill recently. He's back to work but taking it easy, I'm sure you'll understand under the circumstances.

All competitors should receive their DVD as priority, club members can also preorder at http://www.totb.co.uk for delivery in time for Christmas.

Let's hope the MR2s get the coverage they deserve this year :)

We should be able to use the Toyota Sprint Series next year as a benchmark for selecting team members based on their ability on the handling circuit. Going on performances at Barkston Heath we may actually see something other than mk2 turbos in the team!

NAs, MK1s, MK3s etc are always welcome if they can run a 10 second 1/4 as well as they go round corners.

It's 9's and 10's next year to get in, obviously this may be relaxed slightly if there aren't enough to make up a team or something special comes along that I like the look of ;)

Are you also going to require 10 second cars to also be able to run sub 40 second passes on the handling circuit? Or are you planning on a purely drag focused team for next year?

Must admit - would be nice to have one or two handling specialists in the team to diversify the areas where points could be available? It can't be all about the drag?

It's about compromise, it's about cars that can compete over a number of events and do well in each - above all it's about putting together a "team" and not selection of lone wolves out to run 1/4s all day... as a result the team will be selected based on many, many factors and a selection of cars picked to represent the marque in the best light possible.

10 second cars that can run sub 40's and then go on to do a 200mph+ top speed run please... in reality of course not but I'm not going to consider a 39 second handling car that goes out and runs a 15 second 1/4... compromise and team spirit.

If a handling specialist can come along and score team points then obviously it's a good thing but as I keep saying, and have always said, it's an event where you have to be good at all the areas of competition and not just focus on one. Mr Huntley got close last year with his big bottle of NOS for the 1/4 and responsive car / driver for the handling.

I am not being combative.

However, isn't it true in the past we've had cars that only concentrated on the quarter mile and didn't even do the handling? If we have ace handlers, cannot that be done in reverse???

After all, it's unlikely 10 cars will be in the 10 second bracket tbh.
