[Mk2] [Generic] no dash lights

Post by ANT »

everything on the dash works fine apart from the lights that light the dials.

is there a seperate fuse for these?
or likely just the bulbs blown?

i wonder because i thought they were lit from behind and the needle lights seperately?

any help grateful, a bit difficult judging speed at night !

dash lights

Does your car have a dimmer for the dash lights? If so, could be this that is faulty or the wiring to / from it. Can be accessed easily by dropping the bottom half of the dash down. Hope this helps. :?

i took it all apart last week and changed 1 bulb (did it in day light so couldn't see the result) but after testing in the evening, the bulb i changed now works however it is dim.. dont believe there is a dimmer, so maybe just the bulb i replaced is not of a high enough strengh?

planning to buy 5 or 6 LED white bulbs, thinking these would give a much brighter light

I remember when I changed my blue interior for black, I forgot to connect something up and none of the dash lights worked. I think it was the panel with the fog light switches, I'd missed something down there, once that was connected it was all A-OK. If you have a dimmer it will be there, a rotary dial next to the headlight adjust and fog lights. HTH.
