Just wondering out of interest if anyone knows of any high BHP N/A's

The 'NABeast' guy has a BEAMS engine in his which is around 200bhp (has VVTI cam timing trickery).
The last revisions were pretty highly tuned for a 2 litre so it gets hard to get a lot higher than the 173bhp of the later MK2 NAs.

thereabouts 182bhp was the last rolling road i had done.
I also lightened it by 120kgs, so it did go quite well in the end.
Its being broken up now and i've sold my engine and stuff, so new car will be an early MK1 NA that i'm having restored.

I always wanted a Mk1 over the Mk2 to be honest...although i love the Mk2 now..
its just that i wanted an everyday car i could rely on..not saying the mk1's are unreliable as i know there not!! - its just the age and mileage of a lot of them that put me off..

True, I think MK1 wise you need to either buy a well sorted one or buy one and sort it yourself.
I will be using my about to be restored MK1 as a daily driver for the forseeable, so I think as long as you treat a MK1 as a classic then its okay and quite useable. Obviously i know my way round a MK1 so running one is pretty easy for us.

well when i buy a house with a drive and a garge maybe i'll buy one then and take it out at the weekend!!!
