Took some pics the other day after a few hours of cleaning...really need to figure out how to work this slr a little better...

dont you need a long shutter speed to absorb as much light a possible? most of those pics were taken off the floor so there was no camera movement
have a canon 300d...which settings would you use for night time with artificial light?
Even clicking in the shoot button makes some movement. Use the family photo timer!
That way, the camera will go off alone, without you even touching it.
I wouldn't go for the ISO. It adds some grain to the image but if there is no other way...
Besides, I would pick a lens with the highest aperture you've got.
1.8 ideally.
