why cant we have a general for sale section.

Post by Spittinflames »

Would be nice to have a general for sale section, means we could unload stuff without having to pay ebay fees and we would be selling/buying to people we know and trust.

*This is an mr2 forum not ebay.... Yeah yeah i know, If thats the response then just delete this thread ;) *

Dont really answer the question.... Why you dont allow one?

Ebay is full of willys... I like to think we at imoc dont rip each other off so would be a safe place to trade.

Why not stick it in the premium members section only?

That way theres no chance of joe bloggs turning up and selling stuff.

Ebay cost loads now adays.... but if its a no then its a no fair do's... other forums seem to cope quite well with the idea though

Must say I personally don't see a problem with it. Premium Members only would keep the traffic down and have trustworthy (mostly) people on board.

Cons are - We'd have to keep an eye out for people selling vast quantities of stuff and it would be another source of seller-buyer disputes of which we get a good number.

Thats my concern - there's been a number of disputes on the forum already over parts, without throwing in washing machines and irons etc. As long as its controlled it will be okay, but I would want everyone to know that the Mods etc not getting involved in any disputes, we'll try and help sort out the MR2 ones but we haven't got the time to sort every little dispute over a broken antique ashtray.
I am going to live forever, or die trying!

Thats easily solved..... Imoc accepts no responsiblilty for any of the sales.

As long as its kept for premium members only then i cant see the problem really... If it was open to everyone then i would agree with what you've said but paid up members are usually pretty well known.

Why imoc needs to get involved with any mr2 or non mr2 parts is beyond me. What are you really supposed to do?

If it go's ahead then just make sure there is a sticky explaing that all sales are between the buyer and the seller and xxxx all to do with IMOCUK

Its not that we want to get involved as such, its more the case that people turn to us when things go wrong. We are very limited in what we can reasonably do, but if its a repeat problem or others are complaining then we have been known to ban a seller on occassion, so as to avoid other members experiencing the same problems.

I am turning towards thinking though that if there are people who volunteer to run it, then it could be a go-er.

cool

ya never know seen as lee sugested it maybe he will step forward and offer run it too :thumleft:

dont forget micheal has offered to put time in

even if the committe think were not the men for the job im sure other people will put there names forward :thumleft:

the important think is just getting it going and beta testing to see if it can work

as mentioned though deffo for premium members as that would get rid of new account sign ups who try selling things
