Did this guy buy a car off Rab C Nesbitt?!

1. "Karate Camp" - Is that someone who won't wear a colour of belt that clashes with his shoes?

2. "Solid mess" - Indeed, there is a lot of that in that post

In all seriousness, buying and selling cars is a nightmare. Am almost going with gut instinct nowadays, based on the seller, not the car. Certainly would think that buying from a fellow forum member would encourage some degree of community and honesty

Is that just me being a little naive?

i would trust a lng term full member more than sum1 who is on these sites now and again. if you arent mechanical then bring sum1 who is or get the AA to look at it, it might be alot cheaper in the long run

Whoa Whoa people....
Before jumping on the 'lets get him' bandwagon can you please make sure you are know all the facts before adding to the thread.
At the end of the day 2 second hand cars have been exchanged, it is the responsiblity of each of those two people to check the condition of the car they are buying/swopping, part/x or whatever.
The clutch may well of been going on one of them but as the poster has stated he did not realise until he was driving it home. There are things to check even with no mechanical knowledge, the handbrake being one of them.
As for the other things wrong, i certainly would not know if any of those were failing on my car, and i would sell my car with a clear conscience. Would have no qualms about having a mechanical inspection being carried out by the RAC or AA on a vehicle i was selling.
A bit of naivety here i feel.

If this thread continues along the same vein it will be locked.

In fact, thinking about it i am going to lock it.
Serving no real purpose other than people joining a witch hunt when it should be between two people to sort out their differences on two second hand cars. Its both of your fault for not checking out the cars prior to agreeing the sale.
Please keep it to PM. If PM's are reported back to the committee as being abusive they will be dealt with.
