[Mk2] [Turbo] FAO Rev 3 owners

Post by dawolf »

I've had my rev 3 turbo for a few weeks now. It feels like it's running pretty well to me. It starts spooling at about 2500rpm and slowly rises up to 0.7 bar at about 3500rpm then at about 4000-4500rpm it goes right up to 0.9 bar, sometimes creeping up close to 1 bar. Does this seem normal for a std rev 3 with air filter and exhaust system? How do your turbo's spool up?

Thanks.

if you've got the CAT in place the boost will climb up to 0.9. Dawolf, I assume yours has its CAT? With a decat, max boost is made much more "sharply".

Soundss likes yours is A okay

Yeah it looks like the cat is still on there. Just a couple of times I've noticed a little bit of smoke in the rear view mirror when I floored the accelerator from low revs. I presume this was just the fuel being pushed through quickly? The car doesn't appear to use any oil. These turbo's make you paranoid. Lol.

These babies run rich at high rpms, hence the black soot! Have you tried following another tubby that's gunning it with you window down? Mmmmm, petrol!
