Well, going to ASAP for my MOT was a bad idea. They've failed it on emissions and they refuse to accept that it should go through the non-cat test. I've tried explaining that it's an import and there won't be a match for the 3S-GTE on their database but they're having none of it.

I'm trying to get an official email or letter from VOSA. Plan B is to go back to the garage I used last year - I've spoken to them and they still agree it should be the non-cat test.

Sarah at ASAP is very nice and helpful, but her husband Paul is an arrogant xxxx. I bet it's him that won't allow it through the correct test. You should have talked to them about it before you let them MOT it. Hindsight being a wonderful thing and all that :(

Could phone S & G, explain your predicament and tell em I suggested you call.
Can't hurt?

Just spoken to S&G - very helpful but their MOT tester doesn't seem to know about this loophole. He says everything from 92 onwards needs a cat test.

Bit late I know but you could direct em to the link issued here before in a previous thread... straight to the official site and rule book. A search should find it. .. Or have you sorted things?

Well I gathered some information from previous threads here and on MR2OC, then phoned ASAP and got them to refer to their MOT manual. They still think they're right!

I've got printouts of the relevant flowcharts and (hopefully) I'll soon have an email from VOSA with my car's details on it confirming that it should have the non-cat test. Hopefully I can get a refund, or at least they'll get a warning from VOSA.

In the meantime I've booked a new test at Barr-Tech in Cambridge who did my MOT last year. Should have stuck with them!

Good to see you all last night. A pretty successful meet I think with 7 MR2s and we proved that white is the most common colour!

Who's going to post some photos?

Good to see everyone again last night and newbies too!! Nice eve.
Didn't take that many pix in the end... really must try to sort a daytime meet so we have decent light at some point. Anyway still having my mac issues with web based image hosts but have put up about 10 pix in my garage if someone can drag em into this thread for me!!

Yes thanks... With time 2 spare! Would have been positively early if it weren't for those damn 'Average Speed Checks'!

Was a really good night and the pics look good. You're right a daytime meet would be good. I'm free every daytime but Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays are best for me. I'm guessing Sundays are preferable to everyone else?

Sounds like a good idea... Might be worth some of us tagging along to this 1 as its in a really nice setting, or organise something similar...

That no. will be in yellow pages somewhere mk2man.. they're called Apex something... prob. Apex tyres....
I've not been for almost a yr so when you call check they still have the right eqpt to do the proper 4 wheel job (not fronts from backs) before you book in. Oh and find out the current cost too and post it up if you would. Fairly sure it was £70-80 when I had mine done but as I say that was about a yr ago after I lowered the car.

Anybody get those piccies from my garage for me?

Sorry Rob, can't work out how to post links to your pictures. What I could do is save them to disk, upload them to my own web space and point links there.

Will do mate. I'll phone them in the morning and let you know the outcome. Btw can anyone tell me the diff between cat and non-cat and what the criteria are for both, as I am unsure as to under which categorie mine falls! :-k

A Sunday afternoon meet would be good for me.

Same here, if there's enough interest from others we can perhaps set a time and date poss early/mid October?
