Trackday booked and paid for with Bookatrack :thumleft:
SteveB & AndyB - MR2 Only - Red Mk1 AW11

(Bringing the new Mk2 track car project along as well just in case we suffer the same overheating woes as Donnington, although we are hoping its fixed and anyway the mk1 is more fun!)

As well as partaking we will be getting some photos for the next issue of MR2 Only Mag.

Hoping to do activites and stay over Saturday also but will confirm during this weekend about accommodation and activites once Ive checked my finances, and found out how many of us are coming, my finances are at an all time low at the moment with my turbo rebuild

Booked in for the sunday afternoon session, don't think I could stomach a whole day as the track looks boring.

Now, do I get a set of cut slicks ready or wets, damn weather :(

Having driven there i don't think the track is boring at all. I've driven at quite a few tracks now and Rockingham is my second favourite after Donington.

I think you're far off the mark here

You realise it's not just the oval?

Last time I saw you out on track was Bruntingthorpe - which is boring IMO  I know you've done a few more track days since then, but as Lower said, it's a pretty good circuit.

Bring your credit/debit card - do the morning and if you change your mind (which I'm sure you will) you can continue on in the afternoon space allowing 8) :thumleft:

With due respect I think I know my own attention span! Bedford, Donnington, Silverstone, Brands, I was bored before the end of the day in all my first times out there. Unless I've someone to race with / timing, which BAT are a bit sharper at spotting than other TDOs, half a day is more than enough.

Boringthorpe isn't even a track.

Karl, put your name on the reserved list. Often people drop out closer to the time.
Also, still get yourself track-side on the day even if you don't have a confirmed booking. Worst case - you can get passenger rides or possibly even drive someone elses car. Also often people don't show up on the day too and sometimes there are places following mechanical breakdown or accidents. Not all hope is lost

OK, put my name down on the reserve list. Seems to want me to stump up £225 for the priveledge of being on a reserve list though.

Any idea why it wants the full dosh now for a reserve list booking, and how come everything on the bookatrack site says £225 not £199?

It might be possible that there are still places left - it looked like 5 were available this morning when i looked... ?
You could always give Jonny a ring to find out 0870 744 1635

Do you want accomodation/shenanigans if you can get booked in? ;)

Rockingham track day

Post by peterjf »

I have received an e-mail from jonny re remaining spaces, and was told already over subscribed, remaining places for caterham hire only. This is not stated on booking. I also note two more places have been booked by someone not in reserve list. A bit dissappointed as I have finally got my car back and set up saw 5 places left so I will book Rockingham. Looks like a few other people have missed out as well. Booking very confusing.

Anna,
we'll camp overnight if we get a spot confirmed but I don't think we're prepared to go with Garricks idea of just rolling up on the day if not. It's a pain to get to from here and packing the supoort vehicle up and coming on a maybe when we've shedloads to do down here's a no go.

If you can get any more info out of Rockinham then please go for it. We'd probs come for a half day if that's available.

I'll be there on the sunday to watch and try to blag some passenger rides

I'd have booked it if i was sure of the condition of my car at the time, so i'll just base it on a 'rock up and drive' basis. ie, if my car is working, and i can get a space on the day, then i'll go for it. Else it'll just be fun watching. :thumleft:

hey anna!

count me in for the activities (off roading, quads and shooting all sound good \:D/ ) and camping, and I'll just rock up on sun with my helmet and blag some rides and take some pics if that's alright (:

Soiunds like trackdays aren't for you then if you find Donington boring.

Sure you're actually a petrol head? Traffic light GP's more your thing?

On a similar, though less confrontational theme, this will be my first track day and Im looking forward to watching my lap times go down during the day. I can see both sides of the "track days get boring" argument, especially if there is no basis of comparison to see if your times are getting quicker.
Now.. having said that I gather that timing yourself / others is frowned upon or even banned. Can someone with BaT experience tell me if this is true please? Is it a case of video it and then time it at home?
What generally happens then, pick a car in front and try to catch it / over take? If so, Im aiming BIG! That Ferrari bloke looks doable.... :D
