[Mk2] [Turbo] Just picked up my Rev 3 Turbo!!

Post by Cliff »

I knew I was going to come back to the world of MR2's, although I didn't think it would be so soon...

Since selling my first Rev 1 Turbo to Skipp123, who then sold it to 2Crooky, I have since had a 54' plate Astra, 98' Astra Tdi and E39 BMW 523iSE - None of them could compare.

My First MR2

But I am so pleased to be back. Not only I have missed the feel of driving an MR2 Turbo, I have also missed the IMOC community.

Pics of my new MR2 to follow, but in the meantime see you guys at the next meet!

Hey mate :thumleft: Sorry i din't get back to you  I was persuaded by some family members not to sell her and it seemed a waste to let her go for that price :(

Hopefully this means i will be keeping her for the long haul!! She will be garaged over the winter though when i am off in France 8)

She looks a bit different now!! I love those wheels!!! Did you keep them when you sold the car to skipp???

Nah that's fine mate - I thought there was no way you would let her go for that price anyway..

I did sell the car to Skipp123 with the wheels in the pic. An absolute nightmare cleaning them - Many a time I cut my hands on those discs 8-[.

She does look different now! Especially with the Buddy Club Spec II.. :thumleft:

It looks in amazing condition there!!!!!! I think the intermediate owner may have let the condition slip a little

She will be getting a rev 2 black splitter to match the black trim along the skirts, tinted indicator lenses and the fogs removed to anger up the front end!!...Apart from that its just some greddy sideskirts and the faces of my wheels are being sprayed matt black

Then its focus on the engine 8)

Did you buy your new car off an IMOC member???

Wow sounds like you've got a few plans for it then??

I didn't get my new 2 of an IMOC owner. I know a guy who imports cars and my replacement has recently just come off the boat from his contact in Japan.

I can't wait to see your 2 in the flesh to see how it has changed - I'm definately coming to the next Guildford meet!!

Hey Ian.....

I'm just going by the info both you guys have given me..... You both said you kept it in mint condition but the car is clearly not

Couple of dents on her
Most of the interior trim bits are popping off
The dash is really poorly resprayed
There's no ciggy lighter
No ash tray
Nothing to hold the boot lining in
The front bumper respray is sh1te!!
Clicking from the front left coilover
Cam seals are perished
Turbo oil seals are perished
Laquer peel everywhere!!!
Idler and tensioner bearings whining
Primer all over the headlights
Sump oil leak
Reverse light out...
Knocking gearbox in 1st and 2nd
Synchro mesh in reverse is shot
The cat had fallen to the mouth of the flexi blocking airflow
The MBC wasn't plugged correctly
No tbar bags
Washer jets don't work

Who these faults are down to i don't know and its up to me to fix them all now..if i haven't already

Apart from that the car is mint!

One positive thing from all the issues the car does/did have is that at JAE....yourself and quite a few other people said the car looks far better than the last time they saw it on a Guildford run 8)

I have the feeling that I must defend myself although I sold it a year ago?? :(

Do a search under my username and look at all my previous posts and other members posts in relation to the Rev 1's condition.

Have a look at the picture of the dash in the last pic! It was a rare mahogany effect that I haven't seen anyone else with just yet. Loads of people didn't take to it but I loved it so decided to keep it as it was!!

Looks stunning mate 8)

Well unless we get some pics from the intermediate owner i can only assume that is when the car took a turn for the worse.......

I have spent every weekend getting old polish out of every curve, crack and line in the bodywork, trying to repair massive stone chips and getting the paint to the way i want it!!! Here is a pic of my old car Cliff to show you how anal i was about my car

I just hope you know i will be takin care of this tubby as much as i did my last :thumleft:

A lot of that stuff on your list Alex is wear and tear expected of cars of that age, but I would definately agree that it doesn't (or didn't when I last saw it) look in mint condition.

Lacquer peel and general sloppy detailing brought it down.

Nothing that can't be sorted though :thumleft:

Your Rev 3 looked good mate. I can't understand why you would have even thought of selling it - It's sssssooooooo clean!!

I do get the impression that you will look after the Rev 1 - it deserves it. :thumleft:
