Post by robbie_742003 »

Was wondering....i wanna buy some ramps for my car as im fed up with jacking the thing up and its gonna be safer to work under too.Thing is, im not sure if my car would be too low to drive up them.Anyone else here that can put me right on this?

I know I had to remove my mk1 front spoiler to get it up the ramp, You could always put something down in front of the ramps, like patio slabs or something to drive up on to make your car clear the ramps. once the cars up ramps are a godsend, unless you want to take the wheel off.

Another issue to bear in mind is that finding ramps wide enough for the rear tyres can also be a problem.

Yeah how  are you when you see the local garage just effortlesly jack your car up on their hydraulic ramps for the M.O.T after youve been wriggling and struggling about under your car for a month trying to sort it. if only i could win that lotto, F(*&k the big Mansion and holidays just give me hydraulic ramps.

The ones used for my car weren't as wide as the rear tyres :|

Did you have any clearance problems on the front lip when you reversed onto those ramps? Im looking to fit my Nur Spec in a few weeks, didnt know weather to bother borrowing some ramps or not.

You'd be much better off with a pair of axle stands tbh. Its a lot easier to jack the car up and put the axle stands in, plus there's no probs if you need to take the wheels off.
