[Mk2] [Turbo] Thinking of selling (not actually for sale!)

Post by Mike »

Im becoming more and more dissenchanted with the MR2, and I find myself constanly looking at the classifieds on sites like Pistonheads.
Im thinking of going for either a Griff 500 or a Corvette C3 Stingray next.
The question is how much is my 2 worth?

Mk2 MR2 GT Turbo Rev2, T-Bar model, J plate, 82000 miles, Black,
10 months MOT, 6 months tax, half leather seats elec mirrors/windows, steering fogs, Stage 2 Fensport Turbo, Tein super street coilovers, Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, Blitz fuel pump, OMP rear strut brace, 17inch BK 121 matt black alloy wheels, braided brake lines, SAMCO hoses, original interior other than silver gear knob, original "dandism" matts, Kenwood CD player.
Very very clean car!

So what do you think? Image

Question is: why are you becoming disenchanted with the MR2?

What do the other cars offer you over the MR2?

You clearly spent a lot of money on the car and done some nice mods, maybe you just need to get back to just driving the car.

Oh I forgot to mention the HKS induction kit and that its just had the cambelt done.

Its hard to say why I'm becoming dissenchanted, I think it just doesnt feel special anymore. It still gets lots of attention, people ask me questions about it when im in a petrol station etc, but I always find that I'm never satisfied regardless of what I do to the car. Maybe that'll always be the case with me whatever I drive?
The car has got alot more to offer, its only running 12psi so with better cooling, fcd etc theres alot more to come, its just turning into a bottomless pit for my cash!

Of course a TVR Griffith or a Corvette stingray would be much cheaper to run. :D

Did I say anything about running costs!?

Im talking about modifying, I cant see myself modifying a Corvette or a Griff.

It also comes down to reliability. If you prepared to take the risks with the TVR and the parts costs of the Stingray then go for it.

I have become disenchanted with the 2 in the past and looked at putting her up for sale. But I got in her, took her on the Guildford meet and just loved it, fell back in love with her again.

I want to modify the cars, but am waiting for when enough money comes along, in the meantime I actually enjoy driving them. As I said before, maybe you need to try and forget about modding and get back to the essence of the car - driving!

Are you sure its a rev2 on a J plate?

£2300 - £2700 for a rev 2 condition dependant.

I think one of the reasons I'm becoming bored is that I drive it too much, since May 2005 I've done nearly 30000 miles in it.

Yes it is a Rev2, it was made in 1992.

I also forgot to mention that it has the optional LSD.

Looks like Ill be keeping the 2 for another year or so, I should be in a better financial position by then so it makes the most sense really.
