My track focussed aw11

Post by Bello »

Bought this with a blown engine to build as a trailor queen track toy.
Really aiming to make it a pretty universal car to be used for trackdays, sprints, rallying, drift and anything else i can have ago at.

Currently mid build.
Spec
1986 aw11
tokcio shocks and apex springs
cusco camber adjustable front top mounts
hydraulic handbrake
welded diff
fia approved seat
fia approved harness
stripped of weight where possible
sparco wheel and spacer
exip rims

tons to do before it'll be track worthy, will update thread when things get moving more if anyone wants

ahh spotted, going to have to start making it look less like jims old car soon and more like mine :)
I've had quite a bit of stick about the welded diff here and there so far (understandably!), so i'm looking forward to getting it track worthy and testing it out

Yup I recognised that car too... :) Was hoping to get it myself but the fates wouldn't allow... Congrats. As Mart said, it'd be great to see it on track again as it's now a full-on track beasty. And I too would be interested to hear what it's like with that diff!
Nice one though! :thumleft: Keep us updated!

It's just a load of niggling little things i'm fixing at the mo.
Today... set timing, idle and fixed a coolant leak.
Plus bought the 6 piece arch repair kit.

I think it could be quite interesting with a welded diff, look forward to the feedback. :)

Unless you going to try and drift , a welded diff will be rubbish to drive "normally" round a bend, both wheels will be trying to rotate at the same rate with the welded diff = bad
