[Mk2] [Turbo] Formally Introducing Me & My Tubby....Beatrice

Post by Craigo »

Had my car for a good month now so thought it would be rude not
to properly introduce her. It is my understanding she was a former IMOC members car so you may have seen her before

My toy has gone.....

but has been replaced by 290bhp Beatrice....

I have the printout from the dyno which the 1st uk owner did which was 278bhp. Ive now fitted a Dastek Unichip so i would have thought 290 would be about right!

I thought 15psi was more like 1.1bar? not too sure.

The most notable difference i have found in comparison to my friends tubby is in 1st gear because the MBC has taken off the boost limiter. Theres no problem with traction due to the 18's but much quicker off the line than his.

Contemplating an intercooler upgrade now to get into the 300's 8-[

Ahh give him a break man!! lol we all learn about these things as we go.. Thing is craigo, the worst thing you can do with BHP figures, is 'Estimate' as 90% of the time, the dyno's will leave you disappointed!

The unichip may only give you an extra 5bhp at peak, but completely change the power curve, and the way the torque behaves etc etc, and therefore make it feel like a much more 'lively' and ultimately more 'powerful' car.

Lovely motor tho! looks like its in amazing condition!

Now i think you should tune up that engine, get it to accelerate as fast as your old CBR.. and being a 600, it shouldn't be tooooooooooo difficult! :D

rev 3 turbo...242 standard with good engine and turbo, exaust and airfilter could take it to 250 then an extra 2psi could take it too the 270-280 bhp mark....easy :thumleft:

also my boost gauge reads 15 psi when im actually running 17.5 psi so that could be another reason :-k

that power output is easily obtainable on the rev 3 turbo

I have heard of (unconfirmed) completely standard rev 3's being dynoed at 260bhp.

Beatrice has only got 59k on the clock so the engine is only just worn in 8) TOUCH WOOD.......phew

ill scan the dyno sheet in at work for anyone thats remotely interested.

In the meantime, cheers for all the comments!

p.s. in my opinion, bikes will always be in another world to cars...the main reason i changed was simply because i could never relax on the bike and therefore couldnt really enjoy it.

i just done a search on the 1/4 mile times of a pgm-f1 cbr 600 and they are telling me around 13sec ... a rev3 tubby will do a 1/4 mile standard in between 13.5 - 14sec! with 300 rwhp you should get into 12's

remember bikes traction are limited to 1 rear tyre.

the gsxr 1000's 1/4 mile time is 10.08 sec. @ 142.11 mph , and there is a fair few mr2's out there in the 10's, even a couple in the mid/late 9's !

even the turbo'd gsxr's / hayabusas cannot gain much on there 1/4 mile times over standard, even with huge rear tyres & massive wheelie bars, basically due to lack of grip.. obv drag radials and wheelie bars are not street legal, but there are a lot of 7-10 sec cars that ARE street legal!

have you seen that supra that does something like a 7.6 sec run

i used to think bikes were in a different league, but not anymore!
