LOL, only laughing cuz i did the same mate. the handle is on the fire-wall directly behind the drivers seat, over your right shoulder.

Muwahhahahaaaa?

Erm sorry bout that.

Engine release is behind the drivers right shoulder on the rear fire wall.
Front boot release is on the right hand side of the dash under the mirror switch.

Hope this helps.

For awhile i kept thinking the boot release was the engine bay one, wasnt logically placed to me

The ignition barrel got me too, was thinking "Why the f*ck cant i get the key out?!" as i was tugging on it

Yep, I did that too!

And the first time I stopped after driving with the lights on, it took me ages to figure out what the strange strangulated high-pitched buzzing noise was when I opened the door.......

At least with the mk1b's you get the buzzing noise. I stupidly didnt notice the pop-ups were up once in my mk1a and the battery was drained :(

Sunroof got me.

I owned the car for 9 months and was just changing it for a T-Bar.

I knew it tilted but it was only at my first local meet I saw that it lifted out. :clown:

I did check everything i.e engine, frunk, boot etc just the previous owner had opened them for me i was so exicted after buying it i forgot to ask how to open everything before i left. He showed me most things including petrol cap lights etc. But when i got home i was really pi$$ed off coz i thought the ignition barrel was f**ked coz i cudnt get the key out... then i found the little button. LOL :-$ I will get pics up tomorrow as i need to use my brother's camera and im not at work just hope its nice weather again.

you want to try getting in your MK1 at Tescos only to find your key wont fit and someone has trashed your nice clean interior, only then to realise you arrived in your other (shopping) car
