[Mk2] [Generic] wing mirror problems

Post by stuyw »

Hi,

The spring that makes the manual wing mirrors close and open has un-compressed itself, so now the mirror just flaps about. its located behind the wing mirror glass. its held on with a U-Clip to keep the spring compressed...

Does anyone know how to compress the spring down, so i can re-fit the u-clip that goes on it?? Ive tried pliers etc, but there just doesnt seem to be any room to get anything in there to squeeze the spring down..

Has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers

Stu

There are glued screws. You need to heat them with a hair dryer, or a soldering iron (on the screw head) to melt the glue a bit before they will come undone.

Many many stories of people rounding off the screwhead...
