TOTB 2007 - Sunday 29th July 2007 - Elvington, York

Post by michael »

http://www.totb.co.uk

As I'm sure you are aware we have an MR2 entry in TOTB as usual, this year sees the MR2 represented in one of the largest teams at the event and I hope many of you can come along to lend your support.

TOTB 2007 - TEAM MR2

Team (in no particular order):

ANDREW STANDRING
NATHAN FREKE
IAN WORRAL
MIKE COMMONS
ANDY FORSTER
JOHN CONNELL
ROY ASHBY
CHRIS HUNTLEY
GLEN BARNETT

Invited cars:

Xxxx MIRZA :-#

Reserves:

TONI GLADDING
CHRIS ISLE
LARRY VALLOT

Please feel free to gather in the pit area for an informal MR2 meet throughout the day, lend a hand if you like, please don't be shy, I'm sure the team can find plenty of jobs to keep you occupied even if it's just keeping the cars clean :)

Please also bear in mind that this is motorsport, sometimes things don't always go to plan and sometimes the results don't always meet with our hopes and expectations. If a team member has issues on the day please don't spend the next month putting them down, lend them your support for the next event and remember that they tried their best.

Finally I don't care if you think you could go faster or do better than anyone in the team, you didn't put your name down and you weren't there on the day - if you want to prove a point make sure you sign up early for TOTB 2008 ;) I tried to involve all the clubs, I wanted to see MK1s, MK2s and MK3s there... as it happened IMOC came up trumps again and we have a full team of MK2s.

I'm sure people will have questions regarding the cars / drivers, I don't have all the answers but I do have some, if you need anything specific I've linked each entry so you can access their IMOC profile - some people aren't very active here though so be patient.

See you there!

Why is that? This isn't an IMOC team, it's my team. And despite having no issue with Xxxx I wasn't the one to invite him, he invited himself. Having said this he's welcome to join our pit area and I consider him part of the team, I've never had an issue with him.

Is imoc unsure of its own big players i wonder?? :-k

I can't speak for IMOC but I do know there are so called "big players" in the UK that seem scared to play out in public. Always interested to hear about more though, do go on...

i hear there is a BIG car coming from elsewhere but imoc may know better

At TOTB? What do you mean by "BIG"? Volvo 850 estate?

Clearly you have some insider info on something and wish it to be known that you know something we don't... it's nicer to actually spit it out though, otherwise it's a worthless statement ;)

Having said hat what is the criteria for entering TOTB for an mr2??

1. Showing an interest

2. Paying on time

3. Being willing to enjoy yourself on the day

4. Work as a team

5. Ideally run low 12's or better

Thanks for the clarification
How about privateers?

Can a person with a reputable car f the same marque "step in" should a "Team member" have a failure of sorts?

They tend to be the "invited" people.

At this stage no and if they did want to do this they would have to be in the reserves list for the team they wanted to step into with the approval of the team manager.

Basically if "someone" wanted to run they would have had to have shown an interest months ago.

It was organised last year but nobody wanted to stand around aiming people to the right place, this year I just haven't bothered, people only moan about it anyway.

I'll organise it now :)

First MR2 in that's not on the team, Park up on the grass somewhere opposite the main parking area (like the Evo's did last year) and everyone else park next to one of the other one's.

Sorted :thumleft:
Engine rebuilt by: Steve Horrocks & Andy Jones
Engine mapped by: Ryan@2bartuning (330 bhp & 325 lbft @ 1.4 bar)

If someone is happy to look after it I can try to secure us some boggy grass to park on but you'll need to be there early and do some traffic directing because I won't get chance to.

Parking - sadly due to the state of the grass areas we won't be able to secure any club parking. The only club that will be able to do this is the MLR, this is because they won the event last year - apparently they have nearly 65 cars coming to park near the handling circuit so bring something interesting to look as while you walk past all those angles ;)

If you want to park together the best suggestion I can make is to meet up in advance and drive in at the same time, ideally as early as possible.
