how about an early mk1a with 78k on the clock in silver ? best mk1a at JAE 2006.

I bought one recently from the club for sale section for £1500
I have to say i was really impressed when i turned up to see it. good paint, no rust, history etc. The guy was selling due to ill health but had obvously loved owning it, & was sorry to see it go.
To be fair i need to sort a few minor niggles (bits of trim inside/ T bar seal, cambelt) but nothing major.probably come in well under 2K still.
So £2500 should get a really tidy example.
Best of Luck! :D

Is it proper silver? I always thought the mk1a silver was the more goldish platinum (still a nice colour). Please feel free to correct me if there was a proper silver on the mk1as i've just never seen one but would be great to hear.

Looks great... not normally a fan of the mk1a's extra black trim but it looks v.smart on that colour...

... i've got to stop drooling over other people's mk1s and start 'restoring' mine, I miss it!

this is a very very misleading picture! its actually not in nearly as good shape as it looks

doesn't even drive at the moment - its just shiny as i just removed a ton of crappy stickers that the previous owner had all over it, and gave it a good wash.

it might be turning green soon too 8)

I have the other problem, mechanically and engine wise my SC is in top condition (virtually new suspension, tyres, lowish mileage engine with good comp etc) yet the BODY on mine lets it down now cos I need to sort one rear arch and 2 sills (and fit a new windscreen, it doesn't have one at the moment ;) )

I think I prefer mechanical problems to body ones 'cos I can just buy parts and fit them/fix them, when it comes to body stuff it's a nightmare if you can't weld/paint and I refuse to leave it in the hands of some backstreet garage and pay £££ for the labour... I will learn/attempt/buy tools to do it myself if the eternal winter ever stops.:)

im gonna buy the bodywork stuff and re-paint it myself, it needs a lot of touching up where the stickers took paint off - so im going to try the full whack and repaint it all :D

(if you look carefully at my pic you can see some nasty spots where the laquer has come off, or everything has come off down to primer etc)

engine stuff i just dont understand yet, but hopefully i will in time :)

Well at least these cars are worth the hassle/effort. I've scrapped cars in the past (even newer ones than the mr2) for having some of the 'challenges' the mk1 has.... but as we all know, the mk1 is no ordinary car and should be kept from the crusher as long as possible! :)

Cheers Kev,

you got my hopes up then. I couldn't tell it wasn't a t-bar straight away. seems a good car though.

I'm still holding out for that perfect t-bar.

I may be holding out a bit longer than planned as i had 2 new tyres put on my IS200 today (£200) and when they had the wheel off they spotted one of my callipers was cracked so i need to replace that now (should really do both i know). but it's only a lexus so should be cheap :D

cheers
