[All] [Generic] Standard Seat Mounts on Aftermarket Buckets?

Post by Cj82 »

Hey all

I brought some Raceland Bucket Seats at JAE and am told you can't get Subframes for them to fit the MR2

Does anyone have any idea if there is anyway you can mod the stock seat mounts to fit the buckets on to them they are base mounting bucket seats and i have the half leather mk2 seats in at the moment?

Thanks Guys

yeah, most likely a custom weld job.

You may get away with just using some adaption bars which is basically just a couple pieces of metal with holes drilled in them which will hopefully match ur subframe and the bottom of the seats you bought. Thats the only thing at the minute, lots of companies are selling cheap seats but no way of fixing them and by the time you have found a way to fix them it has cost you more than a descent set in the first place

Speak to Rogue...

They have fitted enough buckets to MR2 Race cars to have a good opinion.

Mounts for the car isnt a problem, its just getting the holes on the different seats to match as every manufacturer has different spacing

The Welder at work has looked at my std seats and my buckets today
and thinks we will be able to use the runners with some metal bars welded to them to attach the bucket to, but this will mean i will render my Half leathers useless as you need to take them all to bits to get the runners off :(

So if anyone wants leathers the covers will be forsale i would think

Cheers for replys

I just put together something like this:

Prototype. but did the job. Cut off the runners and put 2 parallel lines, weld them up and drill the holes. Bosh!
