I have wind tunnel data for an MR2 (MK1, but I think similar will follow) emphasizing how a flat bottomed car and air ducted through the rad and over the bonnet/roof is the best thing you can do for front end downforce.

So that's what I've done to the MK1. :)

Oh god it looks hideous! Dont do it harry. It'd ruin the aesthetics of the car.

And if anyone was to ever hit anyone with one of them on the front of the car i would imagine it would be taking a large chunk out of them too! :?

Sorry Toni .. but I found the complete opposite. Gave more front end grip at speed and in the wet. A lot less understeer.

They'd be illegal out the factory. But as soon as it's out the Toyota dealership you can pretty much do what you want.

Answer is, "don't drive into anyone" .. and if you do, why the hell were they in the road.

I would've thought it's like having your tyres sticking out the arches or something.....

I'd chased around asking when I put it on.

It's like theose crappy bulldogs you see people attach to their bonnets.
Old Jags, Rollers had mascots too.

It's kinda like pop up lights. No longer easy as a factory fit due to crash regs. But as soon as you buy a car, you can retro fit them.

Al long as it doesn't stick out firther that the edge of the car (like tyres out a wheel arch) you are fine. So no scythes out the wheels then.

I got mine (not from Toni) and put it on as I always liked them.

I think the MR2 in stock form looks to weedy and needs beefing up a bit. I defo wouldn't put it on with stock lights though, the Rogue ones are great, and I left them up all the time as it looks funny with them down.

I had a play up to 'pod with a mated SC'ed corolla and we found (on a wet cold day) that I wasn't suffering from understear as much as I used to when chasing him round roundabouts.

I then dropped the front of the car another half inch, and raised the rear the same. This gave awesome turn in under most conditions.

I then went to Nur. My first trip, my first track day. It was wet and greasy and the car handled like a dream.

I got home, took it off and the car would understear round roundabouts and the front would get very light and drifty at motorway speeds. I put it back on and it worked perfect.

I then added a CF bonnet and due to the way the spoiler makes a low pressure area behind it, I could see more heat haze being drawn out the vents.

So what started as something to upset most MR2 drivers, ended up being a damn useful bit of kit.

I actually prefer the car with it. Without it, the car looks too plain and blends into the sea of other MR2s.

Hi Bibbs,

Horses for courses I guess, but to me the difference was indiscernible! It just got in the way of my forward view. :-k

Ben hi, :)
Find youre real life experiences feed-back just great and a couple of questions...
Was youre carbon bonnet vented presume it was and did the p/p wing fit okay with the bonnet?-why i ask is that the length of the base mounts of
the p/p wing seems to run the near full lenght of the headlights/unit-so
is there space length enough?...seems from images more ideal to oe shape bonnet?-do you have any top view/side angle close up images?
Pretty sure p/p in Japan made this for a purpose ...
Cheers

Bonnet was/is vented. It fit fine.

I've load of pics. But none to hand. Don't want lots of people making coppies now [-X

Seeing as though the car it's on has the same bumper, bonnet, skirts etc .. [-(

Myself and Rich like them but doubt any one else would consider them though TBH! :-k Pretty sure Mark-Nightspirit would be able to source an ex-production unit though :-k
Show me images soonest or you will make me determined to have some made up but in carbon fiber   -Joking!

Already spoken to someone about making a CF version.

And I've not found another in Japan in 3 years of looking.

Is the carbon reference the blade and or the whole unit along with stands? :)

Just the blade for me .. as I wanted the chromed shark fins.

It was just a pain to fine the same weave as the bonnet (wanted it to be the same).

Keep on looking in Japan, I did see one go for about £500 before shipping, tax and duty about 18 months ago (but it looked like a bodged replica).

Been lucky i suppose most of my carbon weave seems to have matched
carbon light covers-bonnet-rear light panel-bootlid.The D-Drug Japan aero wing
blade is a slightly smaller weave though. The custom made carbon engine
louver cover would mate more with a high gloss finish but not bothered
if the heat affected the finish so left it untreated.
