er, don't know, that was strange. I just had to kick mysql up the backside to get it working again, very strange.

Just tweaked the database configuration to give it more memory.. may be some more tweaks to come..

I prefer to work without any safety equipment, and only the bluntest tools I can find. It almost guarantees horrific collateral damage

Nope, I'm just changing the configuration on the database to eek a little more performance out. Its all about the performance after all, means there might be some roadbumps if there is a spike in load or something which causes the database to choke. Will realign the di-lithium crystals tonight and see what happens.

Was only for 20mins cos I was in a meeting so couldn't restart the process.

Advanced warning - a wormhole will be passing over the site at the weekend and re-arranging some of the boards around a bit. This is because some things we've added haven't been as sucessful as we would like them to be, and because some things we would rather frankly bury in a deep pit and cover with concrete.
