Which mk2 revision

Hi, i am a newbie and i am v close to buying a mk2 (sw20) mr2.
(just got to sell my car first)
I might be opening a can of worms here.....but im stuck on what revision to go for! I am looking at '96 reg onwards.
I love the rear wing on the last revision but i have heard that they aren't as quick as earlier models.

P.S. if anyone knows of a reputable garage to purchase a non import T-Bar pass it on!!!!

The drop in speed occurred in '94 for rev3+ (even though BHP increased from around 158 to 173).

There was a slight drop in BHP from '96 onwards (except for the Jap BEAMS engine in '98+) but 0-60 times remained the same.

The later cars are a tiny bit faster at top end than the earlier ones due to longer gearing, but the 0-60 times dropped a bit from rev 2 to 3.
Personally I like the wraparound spoiler of the rev 1 and 2 best, the rev 5 next and the rev 3 & 4 least. Having said that I bought a rev 4 as it was mint, the spoiler didn't swing me in the end.
Look at as many cars as you can and when you find the right one, you'll know. Get as much info as you can, there some good buyers guides on the net and the points to look out for are valid whether it's a UK car or an import.

rev 3's + are much of a muchness in power/torque.

'96+ is rev 4 or rev 5 for '98 to '00. Rev 5 has the spoiler you mention and is rumoured to vibrate at high speeds. Rev 4/5 have safety extras like airbags etc as standard......

In complete contrast to Stef, IMO I think the rev 5 spoiler doesn't follow the 2's design language at all, and the rev 3/4 spoiler is the best. I also prefer the rev 3/4 alloys than the rev 5 skinny spokes!!

Apologies but I'm in blumin Holland Mon-Fri at the mo and the last 2 weekends have been chocka block trying to get the N/A ready for sale - swapping stereo, wash n wax blah blah......

#1 Jap rev5 NA, 200bhp, 0-60 in (guess) 6.5 seconds.
#2 Any rev1 or 2. 158/154bhp, 0-60 in 7.2 seconds.
#3 Any rev3 4 or UK rev5. 173/168bhp, 0-60 in 7.7 seconds.
